I'm starting to build up my MAC eyeshadow collection and I'm buying some brushes and eyeshadows tomorrow so I was wanting some suggestions on what colors I should get.I have satin taupe. I'm getting gesso and carbon but any suggestions on some other colors that would be good to start with?

Saddle is a beautiful warm brown, if ur getting carbon, it's good to have a neutral crease colour to blend it into, I would suggest Kid for a cooler brown, bamboo for a Warner brown, haux for a plum neutral, (goes well with satin taupe and sketch would be a good one to add). I don't recommend gesso it's too white for a starter day to day shadow, brule, orb or vanilla are good pale tones.

I say that if you buy eyeshadows from mac, it should be unique ones. Not ones that there are quality, cheaper dupes of in other brands. For me, that means no highlighter colors, and also Carbon is not a very good black. Get the Nyx one instead.

If you buy just the pans, (instead of the eyeshadow in the little black pots) you can save a few bucks on them.
