I've used colour stripper ONCE and my hair was pretty damaged afterwards. It essentially does the same as bleach, from what I remember. It was a while back, in my teens. Technology is always changing, so maybe it's gotten better. Sorry I couldn't be much more help.

I have used One n' Only's color fix once as well as Color Oops. Though I used the One N' Only in an improper way (to remove a vegetable stain-blue/green dye which these strippers cannot do) the Color Oops made more headway and was less damaging in that process. I have also used Color Oops on red hair and it was so amazingly easy and worked like a charm! I would recommend Color Oops first (and use exactly as directed) it is also ammonia and bleach free so while it may damage your hair, it will be less strain than the Color Fix which contains peroxide. Also, depending on the brown you want, you probably do not need to strip your hair at all, unless you're going significantly lighter, I would consider colors on the level you already have since that would leave you with the least amount of damage-just a thought.

If ur going brown you may want to consider henna dye it conditions your hair while coloring it me and my sister have used it twice each her first time using it was one week after using chemical dye and her hair was no damaged at all I've used two types of henna one from lush and one called light mountain they both have brown colors but light mountain was more conditioning my hair felt like silk after the only bad thing about henna is you really should not use chemical dye after it may damage ur hair

check out my video on my page! I actually did an entire review of color oops and you can see how my hair looks after dying it twice in one week and then using the color stripper! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdyB...
