I don't have any lancome makeup. some loreal. I've heard n read that its no big deal.. some of the lipsticks I've swatched here n there seem really smooth and pigmented. do you guys feel like there's a bug difference between lancome n loreal makeup in general. esp the lipstick n eyeshadows..

I personally like the texture of my Lancôme lipsticks much more than that of L'oreal. I feel like they go on more smoothly and last longer, and I personally like the color options more, as well. Sorry I can't help with the eyeshadows, I have neither L'oreal or Lancôme eyeshadows.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard lancome owns the company Loreal, or if I'm mistaken it was Olay, not sure, but this is what I heard

Lancome is a good brand!! I love its mascara and my mom uses their lipsticks, these both things are cool!! Love'em... And L'Or?al is good too, but unfortunately I've not used anything from it except their nail polish! It was pretty good... Not sure about other, coz I've not used them!

Lancome own L'Oreal so their products are very similar. They use basically the same ingredients in their products. L'Oreal is one of my favourite brands, I love their foundation, eyeliner, etc. and it's a nice cheaper alternative to Lancome. However I do not like L'Oreal eyeshadows. They don't have the best pigmentation and there's always a lot of fallout. Their individual eyeshadows are way better, I find their quads are really bad quality.

Actually L'oreal owns YSL and Lancôme, I believe.

Thanks for your input ladies. n as always still open to more comments..

as far as ownership. Loreal owns Lancome along with a lot of other brands we use including urban decay (a more recent acquisition).. but loreal n lancome are very similar. hence my question. wondering what the differences are since they do charge a pretty penny for lancome n the brand has been withstanding the test of time and I do notice some diferences but like I said. I don't own any lancone, and very little loreal. I'm thinking some of you ladies may have both n can give me better insight.

Both lancolme and loreal have great mascaras difference in them eh not really would be happy w either company. the skin care lines for both are not great. I stay away from them both

Lol Shauna, its all gravy. lol.

at Louise, good to know I may grab the loreal one. I'm a maybelline girl when it comes to mascara but always looking for a new love.

@Danny, interesting. I've been wondering about the skincare as I'm looking for a good anti aging serum that isn't going to break the bank (loreal) but I also don't want to end up trying a bunch of stuff. I think ill just stay away from those two lines for skincare. stick to body shop n h20plus.

Usually the difference are the ingredients. L'oreal will use less expensive ingredients for eyeshadows and skin care, while Lancôme can use higher priced ingredients because they bring in a higher amount if money. I've never used Lancôme eyeshadows but I do love the mascaras. (Mind you I've only used samples and have never brought myself to buy any..) but loreal is a drugstore brand and uses more chemicals and will use cheaper alternatives. For example in the loreal magic nude, it's a dupe for the giorgio armani silk foundation. And I believe loreal owns Armani's makeup line too. Everyone says the magic nude is more drying, it cakes up easier and it doesn't feel as nice as the Armani one. Magic nudes first ingredient is alcohol so it's drying on skin after many uses. The Armani one doesn't have alcohol in it from what I remember. It also doesn't have as many chemicals and has ingredients that the average person may actually have heard of.
I love loreal, it's a go to for me when I'm too broke to buy my usual routine makeup and I usually don't have any problem with it. But it's not the best quality due to the ingredients and is more likely to break me out than Lancôme is.

All great info ladies. thank you. I hear ya.. these last three comments lead me to another question. quality... are there any ingredients that you specifically stay away from when using cheaper cosmetics...

For me @Naomi I have to make sure that the ingredient phenoxyethanol sits either very last in a product or not even used because it irritates my skin. I notice that its an equal opportunity ingredient for both high-end and drugstore products. Mineral oil, petroleum, C-13,14 paraffinum...nasty pore clogging ingredients can be found in some of the most high priced items around. Especially in skincare and some foundations. Two perfect examples...La Mer Cream and some Clarins serum (can't remember the name of it) that all these YouTubers were just raving about to no end earlier this year. Both of those high priced jokers contain mineral oil. La Mer price tag is $300 bucks for one ounce of product and that Clarins serum is at $80. $300 and $80 respectively for some mineral oil...which sits high up on their ingredients lists. Absolutely highway robbery if you ask me. Cosmetics is not immuned either. I love Bobbi Brown but I thought she lost her dang mind when she re-formulated my beloved foundation and added lavender oil. Lavender oil is a known skin irritatant. Most of my friends who continued with the new formula had to make dermo visits for the painful cysts that cropped up on their skin after use. Overall both price points often use inferior ingredients to create products and hope that most buyers go in with an uneducated mind to buy the junk. I could go on and on. Some of the stuff I've learned over the years would boggle your mind.

Jacqueline...lavender oil is often used to neutralize a not so great smelling product. It really has no redeeming qualities in a skin product. For aroma therapy...a spritz in the air before bedtime...great use of lavender. If my memory serves me right I believe that Bobbi Brown said in some promotional flyer that the lavender soothes the skin when using the foundation...in my opinion she would've been better off using aloe and hyaluronic acid blend. One soothes and the other infuses  moisture.

Thanks for the info both Jacqueline and Shelley. @Alyx I've only used samples of Lancôme mascara but I'm in love with it but far too pricey. 😝

Naomi just a little warning I received an h20 sample w ipsy. I checked out the ingredients and its full of parabens...not good. went straight in the trash. just check the ingredients before you purchase. I try to stay away from anything w fragrance or high amounts of alcohol neither are beneficial to the skin. look for products w proven ingredients or your just throwing your money away. retinols in any form (should be more towards the begining of the list) antioxidants, peptides, vitiamin c are all great! I'm also huge on alpha and beta hydroxy acids

Danny C where have you been!!?? How are you? Haven't seen you around lately. Hope all is well.

I've had issues finding a good drug store serum I'm using oil of Olay at the moment but neutrogina make one its not bad rapid wrinkle repair its retinol based. high end Kate Somerville quench serum has both retinol and higher amounts of antioxidents.
