What are your thoughts on professional shampoo or products vs the leading Walmart stuff? I go to school for hair. And I think Walmart stuff is easier to work with but salon stuff is amazing for your hair.

Try Anything from the brand Pantene! It works great for thick or fine hair!

Pantene is so, so horrible for the hair.

I remember when I used it and it turned my (thick) hair into such dry straw, ugh.

i think some stuff at walmart is great bc its affordable and some things get the job done which you dont need to spend a fortune of money on..but i do love some salon products like paul mitchell which my stylist uses on my hair and it just smells amazing!!!

i hate Pantene, it smells good but my hair looks so dull after using it, no volume at all, no life what so ever & was even using the volumizing shampoo & conditioner. I ended up going back to using Matrix Biolage, pricey... i know! but my hair loves it, softer, gives it the volume it needs :-)

Pantene USED to be a great shampoo until they recently changed their formula to compete with other brands. Personally I recommend staying away from Pantene, Herbal Essence, and Garnier Fructis. My favorite of all time would have to be Dove. It's very lovely, and treats my hair well. Another option is Tresemme, but personally I didn't find it to be quite as nice as my Dove shampoo. If you want a shampoo that will drastically change your hair for the better, your best bet is professional salon shampoos. Keratase is all the rave right now. Hope that helps! :)

Just a question : What lines does your school use?
Mine recently switched from Joico to Schwarzkopf, and while I wasn't a huge fan of the Joico lines, I've yet to find anything that comes close to comparing to the Bonacure shampoos. (Paul Mitchell is close though).
I used to swear by Dove, but I've switched over to BC once I saw the difference it made on the hair of clients I retailed it to.

I say go Pro AND that said, do not buy professional products when they are sold at Wal-Mart, Walreens, Target etc.. while they are not necessarily fake, they are not guaranteed, Get them from a Salon! they are basically sold blackmarket by shady folks...If pro products are not in your budget, I've had some good luck with knock-offs at Sally's. Joico is great for colored hair. Schwarzkopf does make drug-store products-all that Got 2 Be stuff..I've got to try Bonacure. Thanks Keira!

Oh, in a slightly unrelated note, the OSIS+ Dust It is the same formula as the Got 2 Be Volumizing Powder, if you dont want to pay full salon price for OSIS+.

walmart stuff is mostly water. BUT i wouldn't say its less healthy than professional stuff. my problem is that i've noticed my walmart stuff runs out faster than the salon stuff because i have to use more to get results. and sure the cheap stuff sometimes smells better, but we have a saying at my mom's salon: "you know someone uses cheap shampoo if you can still smell it when the hair is dry!"
