I wanna know how you guys do your messy bun. Simple instructions is fine and a picture is optional but it would help a lot! I prefer using no heat but any way would be fine! I love hearing from you guys & Thank you so much!

I think i may be able to help you. Okay, so, put in a regular bun, (start to make a ponytail but the last time you pull it through the ponytail holder, stop so it's a loop) and then take your hair and scrunch it and pull the hairs every which way. pull all your hair back in a ponytail and make it a messy ponytail.
take a sock, cut off the toe, roll it up into a bagel shape.
put the pony through the sock.
fountain the end of the pony on the sock.
tuck the ends under & roll your hair down with the sock.
bam, put together messy bun.

My younger sister is a dancer and she is awesome at making messy buns. Kaitlin's suggestion is how she does it but she also uses these special pins they look like bobby pins that are pulled apart. You can stick them in your bun to make the crazyness stay. You can get them at Sally's Beauty Supply in large amounts

I like all these types of buns, but personally they aren't what Id call a messy bun, more like loose, or piecey. What I've always called a messy bun is when you hair is curly scrunched and held up with an elastic. It's really common with high school/college age girls. They way I always did it: while it's wet, scrunch your hair (or if your hair is naturally wavy when wet like mine just add gel), then, flip your head over, pull into a loose ponytail giving yourself lots of body on top an the sides and pulling the bottom tight. Then piece by piece scrunch bits of curl into the fist holding your hair, until you have the tightness/looseness you want. Pull your elastic over it and wrap it unevenly to hold it and help keep loose ends in. If you're like me you may need a bobby pin or hair pin to help keep the top tight. You can do a messy bun either with the "doughnut" hair accessory or without it. I'll explain how to do it both ways in as much detail as possible...
Without: back-brush (more effective than back-combing for this style) your hair whilst it is down but be careful not to do it too rough or up too close to your scalp, as this will really damage your ends. Next, tip your head forward and grab your hair at the spot where you want the bun to sit. Using the side of your brush, smooth out any messy bits that look odd until you achieve the amount of messiness you want. Then swirl the hair that you are holding in place, round until it's can't swirl round anymore and tie it with an elastic hairband. Now, grab each side of the bun and pull at them slightly until the bun is as big as you want (do this to the top of the bun if you need to as well). You may need to tweak any bits that have fallen out of place so use as many grips as you need, whilst making sure you hide them firmly on your scalp underneath the bun. This is so that it remains looking like a natural messy bun.
With: Do the same back-brushing step as mentioned above. Tip your head forward and this time, tie your hair in a pony tail. Now to add the doughnut, you need to pull your hair through it and sit it in place (attach 2-4 grips around so that it remains in place firmly). Split your pony tail horizontally in half (back-brush each half again if need be) and swirl one half round, followed by doing so with the other half. Make sure you cover the doughnut. You can now either stretch an elastic hairband around this or pin the hair in place. Then tweak any bits that need it.

What I do that works great is to gather your hair like a pony tail on the top of your head, then twist all of it. Then take the twisted hair and wrap it until it actually feels like a bun, then tie a pony tail around it and you might want to add another pony tail just to secure it. Hope it works for you! :)
