Use a good leave in conditioner everytime your hair gets wet! I did this because my hair was so tangled all the time... It's worked for me, I don't even have to brush my hair anymore! Lol
Tangle teezers are supposed to be really good for knotty hair. If you don't have any luck with that, try a brush with natural bristles, as they are more gentle on the hair.

Sometimes it's also better to finger detangle your hair. Always brushing the tangles out of your hair can rip your hair out as well.
