Lately my skin has been breaking out like crazy because of all the stress I've been under lately. Products I have now, just aren't doing the job. So what are some good concealer's you would recommend for hiding acne scars, discoloration, and the little bit of redness I have?
As for foundation, I'm just looking for a new one. Anything that will get me a nice full or semi full coverage without being really cakey.
Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier for concealer!! I love Laura's foundations too however I'm currently using YSL's new touché éclat foundation which gives nice radiance to the skin with build able coverage.
Make Up Forever HD, both the concealer & foundation. And also recommend meditating, yoga, regular workouts (running) and drinking lots of water to help from stress. Oh, and of course getting rid of people who stress you out would be good too ;-)
Dermablend is makes serious concealer. I personally use Benefit Boi-oing, which is my all time favorite concealer.
For foundations, I'm a big fan of MAC Studio Tech. It has buildable coverage, provided you apply with a brush and not the little sponge in the compact. I'm also using Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream. That stuff is like manna from heaven!
Shelly, my skincare routine depends on the stress. I normally never break out, so I just wash my face with water, and I'll use a lite cleanser every 2 or 3 days. But when I start to break out I use clean and clear's 3 step cleanser twice a week.
I don't wear makeup often besides lip gloss and some liner/mascara, unless I'm going out somewhere where I need to be dressed up.
I usually have a hard time with cleanser either drying out and flaking my skin, or leaving it really oily so I try to use them as little as possible.
Kelly, I just watched a bunch of videos on Dermablend's concealer, I've heard a lot of great reviews about it, but never really checked it out. I think I'll be purchasing that soon.
As far as foundation, I can't wear anything from MAC, for some reason they always break me out.
I've never tried the Perfect Cover BB Cream either, but I think I might try it out as well.
Mary, the stress is gone. My skin is just deciding not to clear afterwards. I've tried the MUFE foundation, and I love it. But I have to buy two shades in order to get my right fit, and it's far too expensive to do that when I have a 2 year old at home.
Look into colored concealers. I know a green concealer will cancel out redness. I use green to conceal the red on my cheeks.
There are other colors that help for different situations.
If your skin is über dry and acne prone, check out bliss clog dissolving cleansing milk. It works great both as a gentle cleanser and a five minute mask. I have the same problem with cleansers making my skin flaking, especially if they are acne cleansers. This one keeps my skin clear and doesn't strip it.
I haven't tried any full coverage stuff, but I heard a lot of good things about dermablend, you should check it out it might be the thing if you want to get a flawless skin if you've got anything from scars to discoloration or anything in between.
Ailani I work as a Mary Kay independent beauty consultant. If you have acne I would suggest you try the acne treatment set. It works wonders, it treats the acne and clears the marks as well. Our even completion essence is good for clearing skin discolouration. Do you live in the uk?
Antonio, I'm going tomorrow actually to purchase some Dermablend concealer and foundation. I've heard and seen a lot of good things from it, so it looks like it's going to be a new favorite for me.
Fortune, I don't have acne. I only break out when I'm stressed, which is usually never. I clear up on my own within a day or two of breaking out, plus I can't just use any treatment, my skin doesn't do well with the majority of cleansers. So I just stick to the one brand I have that works.
I might be able to check out the even complexion product though, but I don't know if that would have the same affect on my skin as cleansers do. No, I'm living in the US.
I love Bare Escentual's concealer! I use bisque but I'm also light enough that the blemish therapy (sulfur, green tea and other good stuff) blends in with my natural skin tone. I've read a lot of people have a problem with it being too light for them and they need the concealer over it. I get a better blend with my skin if I use my finger to apply rather than a brush. I just put it in my hand then use my ring finger to apply. If you don't normally use BE, I'd go to a boutique if you have one nearby and they can find the right shade for you without having to guess. Good luck!
Amazing cosmetics amazing concealer is what it says, AMAZING!! It should be called an eraser because it leaves no trace on the skin of you wearing makeup it just blends, and for foundation, tarte amazonian clay foundation, it's full coverage and doesn't feel heavy on your skin, it feels like your wearing no makeup at all!! Hope this helps :)
Ashley, I used to wear Bare Minerals, but it never gave me coverage without applying a heap load of it. I don't like nor want to have to wear a lot to get coverage so I stopped using it.
That's funny, I get pretty good coverage with not a lot of product. I just lightly buff on the foundation (with the flawless face brush) then use my finger to apply the concealer in Bisque to the raised or red stuff, dab a little under my eyes and around my nose and mouth. I guess it depends on how much coverage you feel is necessary. I'm fine with anything that's too dark being lighter and less noticable, not necessarily invisible.
I swear by Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW for foundation, I have stress breakouts too, you can build your coverage but I have found that even just a light layer covers most of my redness. As for concealer, smashbox makes this amazing solid stick concealer, full coverage without feeling heavy.

I bought Dermablends concealer and foundation and I'm in love. I don't think I'll ever switch to anything else. This brand is so amazing.
