I have naturally dark ish brown hair. I lightened it using a garnier dye for dark hair. After that I colored over that with Manic Panic's Intensified Vampire Red. I bought it on amazon for about $9 and I was in love with the color. It runs red when you wash it but it can be reapplied regularly because it contains no amonia. I've used other dyes in the past that just made my hair pink, not red and this one is the best. I'd recommend trying this if you're looking for a deep red color. Mine was very similar to this color http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--OF3FCaJj...
I like the ion as well... And also my favorite is from a brand Pravana (not sure of spelling) lol my whole head was that color! You're going to have to lighten your whole head! Depending on how bright you want it! You can bleach, just use lightening colors, or just developer to lighten a bit!
I used a product called majicontrast by l'oreal in the colour red and my hair went cray red like rhianna red. It was amazing I loved. I found that things like manic panic faded really quickly as it isn't permanent where as majicontrast is and does not fade. You must remember to wash your hair in cool water as your hair will fade using warm/hit water. You also need to keep on top of red hair and I have to dye mine every three weeks so my hair is the brightest red it can be. Hope this has helped :) x
its an english/australian product and i got it from sallys but if you live in the us there is a product called Loreal hicolor hilights but you want the colour red. dont get anyother colour as it wont come out as bright red :) x
