I was straightening up my stockpile of products with my husband when he discovered something very disturbing. He is a chemist and he took to reading the ingredients list of the Curly Pudding and informed me that paraffinum liquidum is just a classy term for mineral oil. I just about flipped out when I heard him say that! It is also in the Curly Meringue and Stretch Silkening Cream as well. I'm so angry because I touted this company to so many other gals with curly hair. Mineral oil is the worst thing to put on curly hair. Its no wonder I was going through so many bottles of clarifying shampoo because the product was so hard to get out of my hair due to the mineral oil. And its not listed at the bottom....that substance is second in line on the ingredients list! My hubby took back two cases of product that I had purchased from Target (yes, you read right....cases...I WAS a MJ addict) and exchanged it for another line geared that does not contain mineral oil. This line is pricey and I can't believe that for all these years I've been paying top dollar for mineral oil.
Wow! I would be angry too if I thought I was using a product that didn't contain mineral oil, when in fact, it does. If you don't mind me asking, what line are you trying now to replace Miss Jesse's?
@Latia C. I'm currently using the entire Kinky Curly line that is sold in Target. I love it. I can get a couple of days without having to re-wash my hair. All I do to re-fresh my curls is just spray a little water on it and I'm good to go. I also discovered aloe vera in liquid form and I use that as a styler as well. Much better for natural hair.
Hey Shelley. Currently, I'm in search for chemist to consult in the development of my haircare products and it seems as you're husband would be a great educator as well as consultant. Would your husband be interested? If so, lemme me know so we can exchange info!
@Chi L. Thank you so much for extending a great opportunity but unfortunately my husband signed a five year contract with a company that doesn't allow him to do any outside consulting work. If you happen to need a test dummy for product I'm your girl (I have a ton of it). Congrats on starting up your own haircare line. :)
Shelley, I completely understand. Yes, I'd definitely love to have your feedback as we venture into crafting our products. Anyway, I can communicate with you off this thread?

I've never used Miss Jessie's. I couldn't pay that much for a hair product. I ended up getting a sample in my Birchbox this month.
I started using aloe vera in my locs years ago. since I'm back to a TWA, I still use it. My hair loves it.
