I heard popping a pimple is the right thing to do if there is a white head to get all the white stuff out and then it goes away. But then i also heard to never pop a pimple use products.
Which one is right?? What do you do if you get a disgusting pimple?
Popping with your fingers actually makes it worse. The oils from your hands gets into the now opened blemishes and can lead to scarring and redness. Using an extractor like one from covergirl reduces redness, scarring and pain. Definitely the way to go!
popping pimples is never good! but, like most people, i can't help myself but to pop one if i get one because i cant stand the sight of it on my face! usually it just makes it worse... you think i would have learned my lesson by now. but, i have found a few things that help if you absolutely have to pop it!
i always pop at night if im going to, in case it looks worse after (which it usually does.) you should thoroughly clean your face and hands before so there are no oils or bacteria that could make the pimple worse or cause more breakouts surrounding the area. then, wash your face again, and follow with your toner and moisturizer. after you do this, i have found a miracle product! its clean & clears advantage popped pimple relief drying paste. apply that to the pimple that you popped, and it will be almost invisible the next day!
this product is awesome because most spot treatments are for pimples that are still there, not ones that have been popped, but this is the oppostie. it works great and its only like $7. definitely do this at night before you go to bed though, as it will leave white spots whrerever you apply the treatment! hope this helps! :)
I am totally going to try out that Clean & Clear popped pimple relief paste that Autum recommended!! I can't lie though, when I do try to pop a blemish, I wrap tissue around my fingers and very gently try to extract it. But I only do that once its to a head. Its still not recommended to pop a pimple but at least that way you don't introduce the bacteria/oil from your fingertips to the area. A product that I love and can vouch that it works is Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. LOVE that stuff (you can find it at Ulta or Nordstrom).
If I ever get a spot I just have to ride it out and use a decent concealer. Never, never pick or pop them. However... if they do have a prominent white head, I have also heard that it is ok to do so. I have done before with a tissue but usually I just just leave those too.
Someone told me years ago that if you touch them they will scar, and its stuck with me!
Oh yes. Scarring will most definitely occur unless it's a tiny blemish. But if you're going to do it use a warm compress on the area first then use q-tips. One on each side of the pimple. If all you see is blood then you need to stop.
You should not pop it, I know it can be so embarrassing and sometimes you can't even stand to look at them, but it's best to let them dry out unless you can afford to get a facial done at the spa and they will take care of it for you.
