Technically yes it damages your hair, BUT! If you take good care of your hair it shouldn't damage it that much, where its noticable. This is coming from a natural brown haired girl, who rocks blonde. I think when people hear the word "DAMAGE" it scares them, don't be afraid to go lighter!:)
I read and tried honey to lighten my hair it does take time though it will be a gradual change I've only done it once my hair may be a shade lighter but Im trying it again tomorrow for a longer period of time
just take care and USE CONDITIONER!!! do not wash your hair everyday because sulfates in shampoo break hair down. try a good leave in conditioner to use when you get out of she shower. so i say go ahead and lightening your hair! have fun with it! you dont have to get super professional on it, just be careful :)
Everything damages your hair. Gabrielle has the right idea. Get good conditioner, a good hair mask (ojon is awesome). I also recommend switching to sulfate free shampoo. I like deva care no poo. It's a cream shampoo. No foam. It won't dry your hair out at all.

I've been wanting to dye my hair a lighter color but I heard it can damage your hair. Any natural way to lighten?

With the lemon, it's good to mix it with olive oil that way it coats evenly on your hair and your hair is getting moisturized at the same time :)
