Use Shimmering Lights Purple shampoo. Or paul mitchelle-purple platnuimblonde shampoo. Also if u wash your hair with dish detergant right after you dye it, it takes out that orange/yellow tint. you might not be leaving your die on long enough..& I was taught in cosmetolgey school to dye your roots first. then wash out the dye & do the rest of your hair this helps it not be 2 diffrent colors. hope this helps :)

I've been doing my blonde hair at home for a while, and currently I'm using 30 vol. for my roots-natural color is a dark blonde/light brown. It does lighten my hair enough but there is still some orange/yellow tint and I've tried numerous toners and they haven't helped, so would using a stronger developer help the yellow/orange? Also would it damage my hair a whole lot more than the 30?

Yes use a shampoo or find the perfect toner! It isn't really a good idea to use 40 volume on your already bleached hair!

Listen to the ladies, you're looking at some serious damage-breakage to name the worst! Perhaps get your hair cut a bit, then take yourself to a professional for color correction. I know it is expensive, but it is better than being bald!

Thanks everyone for the advice, but I meant just using the 40 volume on my roots the next time I do them. I wouldn't want to put that on my already lightened hair, but I'm just going to go to a professional after all xx

Hi! I go to a beauty school & ive learned that the volume doesnt really matter because either way it lifts. What matters is your speed. If you're slow then you might want to do a 20 or 30. But the higher the volume, the faster it lifts.

That is true! *^ BUT the volume does matter... Whether you're fast or not you wouldn't want to use a higher volume all the time on already lightened/bleached hair... If you put just 40 volume on your roots they're going to most likely be wayyyy lighter than the rest of your hair. Salons are good for lightening! =)

I agree with Non. Go to a salon; leave it to the pros.
