The best thing for back to school that I do is keep an "emergency" kit in my bag or locker. A few things that work well in the kit:
-Blotting papers. These are nice after P.E. (Especially when you have it in the morning. Blah!) I also have an oil-control powder that I have in there. It's Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Translucent oil-control powder. I've never tried a better powder!
-Q-tips. You can use them to correct/apply makeup. I use q-tips religiously, so I make sure I have plenty on hand. Almay makes makeup corrector q-tips, but I find that a regular one with a little face lotion works just as well.
-Lotion or face lotion or both.
-Mints.
-Tampons.
-Concealer or foundation. Whatever you think would work the best for touch-ups on your face.
-Lip gloss or chapstick. In the winter it is very cold in our school (and in the summer, for that matter), and I always seem to have chapped lips.
-Vitamins/pain-killers.
-Hair-ties/bobby pins. Unless you have really short hair like me! :)
-Mini hairspray.
-Band-aids. I have animal print ones!
-A dollar for a vending machine or if they're selling something at school, or if there's a penny drive for a good cause.
-Mini deodorant.
Obviously you can add/subtract anything you like. I've found that I use my kit at least every other day when I keep it well stocked. Good luck on your next year! :)

I would be careful with the pain killers. Some schools are very sensitive about those.
