I'm ready to finally invest in some professional grade brushes. Right now I have a mixture of MAC, Sonia Kashuk & Crown Brush. I have been eye'n the Sigma brushes but read earlier about some shedding. I have to admit, I've gone into Sephora and their professional brushes look and feel amazing. Can anyone guide me in the right direction. I don't mind slight shedding but obviously I was brushes that hold product well, apply evenly, blend great and can be washed at least 2-3 times a week.
You should definatley check out the revlon ones! They are really nice quality and pretty cheap! (: I live in Miami too! (: xoxo-

i love sigma and mac, i actually have a blog post about my favourite brushes and what i use them for, could be helpfull to check out ;) http://beautymarkedx.blogspot.com.a...
Yeah, I wouldn't consider Revlon the best. My faves so far include Kevyn Aucoin, Trish McEvoy and Hakuhodo (sp?). I like my Mac 214 also. I've heard good things about Rae Morris.
I'm a sucker for my Hakuhodo and Louise Young brushes... MAC is my third runner-up. I still want to try brushes by Rae Morris, Shu Uemura's kolinsky hair brushes, and maybe some more Hakuhodo ones outside of the S100 series to add to my stash...
Hakuhodo, Rae Morris (great set for $200) and Louise Young. I still love Mac's 217 and 239. There are some other brands I'd love to try, but are not available in the States.
My favorites are from Sigma and MAC. Sigma is definitely more affordable and in my experience the only brush that has ever shed on me is their F50 Duo Fibre brush.
If you are looking for Professional brushes, check out ESUM Brushes. They're brand new and absolutely amazing! Very high quality brushes. Here's the website: http://www.musebeauty.pro/esum.aspx
I love my Sigma shadow brushes, but the stippling one isn't really all that great, so I don't know if I'd recommend the whole kit. I'd say I use 80% of it but a few I know I never use. I just bought my first MAC brush and I'm loving it so far but I don't recommend the Crown Brush face ones, as they didn't last me very long or hold the product all that well, but that's just my experience with them. They also feel scratchy now and I've had them for a little less than a year.
Considering that ROYAL manufactures most of the top cosmetic companies' brushes, they are top of my list. The list is extensive and covers most of the brands I'm about to name.
I have about 15 sets of Smashbox brushes and love them to death.

I don't use a lot of MAC because of the boycott controversy and personal preference. However, I do have a few brushes in my kit and the ones I have are decent.
I don't have much to compare to but I have invested in MAC brushes and I love them. The fact that I have two 239's (one from like 10 years ago and one I bought recently) and the bristles look the same says a lot. I feel like they will last me a loooong time. The only downside is that the MAC logo does erase after a while some people put a clear coat of nail polish over it to seal it but I think it looks tacky. If you are planning on cleaning them that often then I would suggest something that isn't the MAC brush cleaner...I've read that it's not the best thing, too harsh to be used that often.
HEY EVERYONE!!! if you love MAC - you got to go to The Makeup Show NYC this weekend may 13 &14. MAC will be exclusively selling their FALL TREND PALETTE at the show. its gonna be amazing. last day to purchase tickets is may 10. alsooo crownbruish will be selling at MAJOR discount. Hakuhodo will be there too anddd bdeullium tools.... ahhhh cant wait http://www.themakeupshow.com
To me MAC brushes are the best but I recently order the 22 Professional Brush set from Coast Scents and they are awesome! I really like them and the entire set is $34.95 for 22 brushes!!! Check them out: http://www.coastscents.com Here is a pic of the set.
Personally I have several brands: nars, Mac, Smashbox, ten image and bdellium (maestro series). Generally it depends on what your are doing, brushes are an investment. I would look at bdellium and nars personally (Nars is expensive but worth it).

I think Cozzette brushes are the absolute best. They're the softest brushes I own - I have MAC, bdellium, Royal, Crown.

I ordered the lace midnight brush set from sedona lace and the brushes are a little smaller than I thought they would be. :( I still like them though.
