NYX Black single eyeshadow is much darker and more pigmented than MAC's Carbon. Wet'n'Wild also does pretty well with black eyeshadows.

I agree with Kayli and Sarah! The Wet n Wild palettes that include black are awesome! They're super black. I like MAC pigment in Dark Soul as well. It's a bit sparkly, but not too much.

Bulletproof by Sugarpill > MAC carbon + Urban Decay's black eyeshadow in both Naked palettes. Bulletproof makes all other brands look like they're a shade of grey.

Bulletproof from Sugarpill! Also, Wet n Wild has a really nice matte black in some palette they make. It's pretty dark, and it soooo much creamier than Carbon.

Urban Decays Black Dog is the sootiest black I have ever used. There's no grey to it and it's VERY pigmented. But I also really like NYX Black too.

The only problem is Black Dog is only available in the Black Palette ($36).

Urban Decay's Blackout is $18.
Makeup Geek's Corrupt is $8
I just bought Corrupt the other day so I can't wait to compare it to UD's Blackout and Sugarpill's Bulletproof.

I think the best black eyeshadow is Makeup Geek in Corrupt. I've NEVER seen a black as black as this one. It beats the Mac - Carbon in my opinion.

Sleek's eyeshadow in Noir -- which is in some of their eyeshadow palettes -- is a very pigmented matte black.
I just swatched it next to UD Blackout (mine is from Naked 2). Noir was much easier to work with, and it's much darker than Blackout. (My Blackout also seems to have a drier texture to it.)
I've seen swatches of MUFE #4; it's also quite black.
But I definitely want to try MUG Corrupt because everything I've read says it is a VERY potent black.
