Hi:-) I really want to do some Henna designs but I just figured out the hard way that I am allergic to the henna paste:( Are there any alternatives to Henna? Preferably all natural. Even DIYs could work...

No there is no alternative for henna! there are some color cones available! like I've done here... with the color black... its not natural... some sort of chemical I guess.

Waterproof eyeliner. And a lot of people are. Henna is super dangerous. People have had major scarring, and even blood poisoning and limb loss.

Hi, I'm a cosmetologist and a henna artist! Black henna is the one you have to watch out for. Henna is made from the root of the henna plant and can come in 3 shades: green, red, and brown. All of these will stain the skin some shade of brown though. Black henna has henna in it but the key ingredient that gives it its black color are heavy chemicals. These chemicals are what make this kind of henna dangerous. Most middle eastern/ indian people who use black henna have a tolerance to it and do not often have bad reactions- its a lot like not drinking the water in Mexico when you're from the states, for the locals its fine but tourist's bodies are not used to the filtration systems there and get ill from consuming water.
If you used black henna before then I really think you should try another kind, it is rare for someone to be allergic to regular henna but your body might notice the similarities and react to it anyways. There are mini henna kits you can buy from 'hippie' stores though that should be really gentle on your skin so I'd recommend trying one of those. Good luck!

Still looking for an alternative to henna? Organically Blonde makes a couple shades... Strawberry and Golden. But it covers gray quite well. It's made of organic veggie skins and flowers, no additives... it's an alternative depending on your hair color.
