If you're looking to reduce the redness in your skin with a skincare product salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide won't necessarily reduce redness because they are very drying and exfoliating. Try something gentle like Lavender. You can pick up lavender essential oils from lots of different places. If you have an Aveda near you go there or your local health food store. Even GNC will have it most of the time. Lavender is soothing and calming and using a small amount won't clog your pores. Rose is also another inflammation reducer. You can find this the same way. Make sure you are moisturizing your skin. And not using any harsh, grainy skincare products. Use an oil free moisturizing lotion. You can treat your skin at home at night by doing cooling masks, ice water treatments, and using cold compresses. This is the most important place to start so that you help to reduce the problem. Now for makeup, use a green concealer because green cancels out redness. You also want to make sure if you are using a concealer close to your complexion color, that concealer should be a shade lighter than your foundation in order to actually conceal the blemishes. There are lots of different drugstore brands that carry these. You can also try the L'Oreal Color Correcting Concealer in the green tint. This will help even out all redness in your complexion before applying foundation. Preventing from caking around your areas of concern.

Also forgot to mention, make sure your wearing an SPF! Exposure to the sun can irritate, dry out and increase inflammation and hyper pigmentation in the skin. :)

I agree with Jessica. Don't use harsh products as you will irritate it more. As for the makeup problem, have you tried the colour supplements from Lush? They have one called Jackie Oates (for pale skinned people like us! :P) and it's very nice to your skin :3 Rimmel concealers are light enough for pale skin and have really good coverage. Some other good foundations are Gosh X-Ceptional wear foundation, and Revlon Colorstay (I've heard great things about it - I'd love to try it!)
I'm always on the lookout for great skincare products and face makeup for pale skin, so check out my blog for reviews if you want to look into anything I just mentioned :)

If you're using a face wash with those ingredients like sacylic acid... Stop! It's too harsh on your skin! Acne fighting ingredients in face wash don't sit on your skin long enough to make an impact on your acne under you skin -- but it can make a hella of a damage on your top layer of skin.
I've had major skin problems about a year ago (cystic acne and horrible, HORRIBLE break outs). I came to Beautylish too and asked for Drugstore recommendations, since I didn't have the spending power like I used to with a baby and all. That and I tried everything... high end, online, etc. etc. etc.
Soma S. told me to try CeraVe. I thought I'm at my whits end, so why not just give it a try. I was so impress by CeraVe that I'm still using it, and my skin cleared. No more horrible break outs...
I have oily skin so I used CeraVe Foaming Face Wash. If you have dry skin use their Hydrating Face Wash. Well comes to think of it, I use both... I use the foaming one to take off my make up, and the hydrating for the second time I wash my face. (I tend to wash my face twice in a row... just so I can make sure all the dirt/makeup/grime if off my face).
CeraVe has ceramides... which is skin regenerating properties. So I think of it as, it's like a cell repair type of ingredient. It's the ONLY drugstore line out there that has it... and it's 2-3-4-5x cheaper than all the high end brands that contain "ceramides"
After I wash my face, I use Witch Hazel toner (another drug store product... usually by the alcohol, peroxide aisle), then follow up with CeraVe AM lotion/PM lotion/Moisturizing Cream <<<depending on what time it is (ie AM lotion during the day, PM or the Cream at night)
Here is the thing though... CeraVe is a gentle line with no acne fighting ingredients. So before I put the moisturzier (last step) I put Benzo Peroxide or Differin (which is like sacylic acid) on my face (depending on the day of time. Differin during the day, and BP at night). BP kills the acne bacteria, and Differin/Sacylic Acid (or any type of acidic ingredients) helps take off that very fine top layer of skin (sorta helps slew away the dead skin so that your new skin comes through). Since acne fighting stuff are doing their work, you need to wear sun screen (like Jessica mentioned). The sunlight will do more harm than good to sensitive skin.
hope this helps....
