Go to sephora they encourage you to get a sample. And they will always ask to try the makeup on you first

I use to work at Estee Lauder for over a year and we ALWAYS give out free samples of foundation, sometimes we even offer it without the customer asking. It's part of the EL "mission" and there's even a service menu that has "free foundation sample'. The standard dram bottle for all counters contains enough for ten days when filled. So I am assuming she didn't fill it up or for some reason used a different container. It's even on their website that they give a free 10 day supply of foundation. It's probably just that particular person you were dealing with. If you are given a hard time next time, I would ask for the counter manager and if they're not available then the sales manager.
Here's a link to that on their website:

The el counter at the local macys give samples to try cuz I wasn't sure about color match due store lighting.

I always say 'I need a sample to see how it wears on my skin'. If they are weird about it, smear your complaint all over the internet then post the page (like this one) to their pr contact. And tweet the link to their twitter account with your complaint. they will soon get the message that the customer is always right.

Alma I want the double wear foundation and also the double wear concealer you use. I really want this one as I though it gave great coverage in the pic you posted. Shelley I know its so annoying when you need to try out foundation and its hard to get hold of a sample.

I used to work at Clinique , they didn't really like us giving samples of creams etc. reason being you need more than a couples days to see if its right for you. We always gave foundation samples.Good luck!

Counters need to get with the times and stop being a pain in the you know what to get a freakin' sample. Absolutely ridiculous especially since these brands have no problem in sending full size products to bloggers/YTubers to get free advertising. I rarely go to counters unless absolutely necessary and if my city had a Nordstrom I would shop from a counter there as opposed to a competitor because Nordies has no issue in giving out samples...they aim to please the customer.

What product did you want?

Thanks ladies. I think I will buy and go back to the orginal lady I saw. This lady did not match me rather she looked at me and choose the one she thought looked right and it does look like a match but I will go back to be matched properly and be able to have it on for the day. I hope it works for me as I really want to buy it as well as the concealer. This was the first time I have visited the Estee lauder counter since I moved here so it was a bit discouraging for this happen.

I agree with Kimberly and another option I think next time you go in don't wear makeup and have them match you and see how it works out for you all day.its different at every store and for Estee Lauder prices in my opinion they're awesome plus if you purchase a product you sometimes leave with free products when they offer them.

I work at a benefit counter and I can tell you that it depends on the person or who's in charge. Thankfully my counter manager allows us to give free samples of foundation (it's only right, they need to test the product a few times) but also some managers tell you to make sure they make a purchase and sometimes that amount is ridiculous. In my opinion, samples of product, especially foundation should be given for free, as that is good customer service. So basically it depends on who is working and the counter rules. I would just go back to your original sales person.

I am soo annoyed about this. Need to have a rant to get it of my chest! I went to the Estee lauder counter a few days ago where I spoke to a really nice helpful lady about the double wear foundation and concealer. She spoke to me for a while and said I can have a sample I didnt ask but as the shop was busy and so was I I said I would come back today. I got there and this lady must have been having lunch or something she was not there so I explained to another SA what I wanted. She was very rude and clearly unhappy that I wanted a tester and at first even told me they didnt do them but I persisted as I was previously told I could have one. It was really uncomfortable. When I git home there was not enough foundation to cover my whole face so I couldnt get a days wear from it to see how I got on with it. I would never go to a counter just to get free stuff and I don't even go to counters if I don't plan to buy something but I think its vital to get a tester for something as important as foundation and Its unreasonable to expect people to pay Estee lauder prices without being able to try it before hand. I don't know what to do now as thats the only counter near me so I think I I will just go back to the lady who helped me in the first place. Is thier rules around giving out samples? I have only asked for samples 3 other times (also for foundation) and the staff were very helpful. Appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.
