For a couple years, I've been thinking about more permanent hair removal. I have a long-term boyfriend, we go camping a lot, it takes forever to shave every day... I just think that I'm ready to make an investment in not being hairy!
I've been looking into laser hair removal and electrolysis, but I don't know anybody who's had it done, so I'm not sure. I want something that's going to be worth the cost, you know?
What do you guys think? Is it worth the money? Has anyone tried it with success?
Electrolysis and Laser Hair Removal are totally different. Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal. While Laser Hair Removal is permanent hair reduction. Electrolysis is a lot pricier and you need more sessions. While Laser Hair Removal is cheaper and not as many sessions. (And seems to help with 95% of it) Also, simply waxing can cause reduction in hair growth. (After doing it a lot) Let me know if you have any other questions :)
I've done electrolysis on my face (upper lip) for the past 2-3 years, and I have noticed a great decrease in the number of hairs in general and in their darkness. I know my mother and grandmother have virtually no hairs aside from the "peach fuzz" on their faces. I've never heard of it being done on the legs though.
I agree with the above. electrolysis is great on minimal, individual hairs that need persistent managing and eventually are permanently removed. Shaving stimulates hair growth and you said you were shaving everyday, it might sound gross but initially let the hairs grow then shave when you really really cant stand it any more and eventually i should become necessary to only shave every three-four days. xx
I get IPL (something like Intense Pulse Light) done on my face and I swear if I had the money I'd do it all over. I think IPL is for dark skin and I'm aware that there is something for fair skin. Permanent/long term hair removal is totally recommended.
I had electrolysis on my eyebrows, upper lip and chin. I am very fair so and the hair was light ( but long - yuck) so laser wasn't an option. I am so glad I did it but as everyone has said electrolysis goes hair by hair so for big areas it's going to be $$$. If laser is an option for you and you live in a metro area I have seen some really good Groupon/Living Social deals pop up from time to time.
