After talking to a friend of mine who used to be a stylist about my color disaster; I've found that the only way to get the color I need would be to lift it with a color corrector (she said to use bleach as a last resort) and dye over it with what she called "fashion color". Searching on Google lead me to Manic Panic's website and I know that most of that line is available at Sally's.
I know it's possible to mix the colors; however I haven't got the slightest clue what colors will give me the result I'm looking for
This is the hair in the natural, outside light. In yellow-tinted light it has a pinker tone. It's similar to Ariana Grande's color; only more pink-toned.
I'm on a time crunch to get this fixed & hope that it's even possible!
I have the same question as Jasmine... is that the current hair you are working with, or what you want to achieve? Because, if that is your current hair, I would say that is a fairly fashion-forward color and looks beautiful.
So sorry, I probably should have stated this previously! XP That is the color I'm trying to achieve.
The picture is of a set of extensions that I ordered. I went to Sally's and bought the "Hot Hot Pink" and "Purple Haze" Manic Panics but they do not mix together to make the color I need.
I'm thinking I needed the "Vampire Red" instead of "Purple Haze" but my local Sally's was sold out. I also thought that possibly I could get the next red up and mix all 3 to get the color above.
However this is my first time ever trying to mix or use Manic Panic so I'm unsure as to whether my thoughts on color mixes would turn out right!
Any ideas/suggestions would be very much appriciated! :)
What if I'm lifting to (likely) a dirty blonde/sandy brown color?
I mean, I'll just have to roll with it if that happens as that's my only option that is attainable in the time frame that I have. Lol. I can/will probably need to look into better/more permanent options after I get back from this trip.
I Disagree with manic panic washing out in two washes.
If you don't use super harsh shampoos and don't wash your hair every day it's great.
I've had super bright red stay in for quite a long time.
The reds/purples/pinks tend to stay in longer than say a yellow or green.
As for mixing the colors you will just have to play around with them! Have fun experimenting, you might get a different color you like just as much:)
Yea, don't worry about Manic Panic washing out that fast. I use it often and as long as you stay away from sulfates it'll last a while. I also use a conditioner that's 1 part color to 2 parts conditioner any time I wash (not every day). I never have to touch up my color till its time to do roots.
As for the color mix, I'd say hot hot pink is a good place to start. I've used that and it comes out on my bleached hair a lighter version of at APPEARS on my end to be what you want. So yea, adding maybe a darker red may help. There's a website, haircrazy.info that has tons of pics in their gallery.. all labeled by color... that tell you what they used to get it. I often browse for new mixing ideas. You may find a suggestion there. There's another site I use that also has a gallery by color. But I'll need to dig it up and get back to you.
The color won't turn out like that if you have your hair a dirty/sandy blonde. Trust me, I've tried it. To achieve a true color like the one in the picture you'll need to life to pretty much platinum blonde, and then deposit the color which has the depth and color desired.
Thanks everyone! :) I ended up lifting my color to a yellow-blonde (the lightest my hair will take, regardless of how many times I go over it) and mixed Rock n Roll Red with Hot Hot Pink and a little bit of Purple haze.
In the picture I'm holding up the extensions to show the colors together. I'm still debating on adding a layer of purple over it, because some places are lighter/redder than others due to having varying lightnesses of highlights in my colors before. <<Opinions on this would be greatly appreciated :))<<
But I used clips to just clip some of the extension hairs in place (to get the full effect) and everything seems to blend fairly nice, I'll be able to tell more once my fiance & I spend the evening installing the extensions. :)
Thanks everyone! :)
Sadly the color has been replaced by a brown close to what my natural color would be; as the extensions ended up being a huge, ugly disaster (with how thick my hair is I guess I'm destined to be confined to clip-ins)!!!
Cool thing though, the bits where the Manic Panic was brighter made for some really nice, natural looking highlights under my brown!

Are you saying that this is currently your hair or that this is the color that you want to achieve?

Manic Panic washes out within two washes, I wouldn't recommend it.

I completely agree with Mandy! You'll get the truest color on the palest hair you can bleach to.

I love manic panic! I wash my hair every day and my color usually stays about two weeks before I need to re-do it. Plus the colors are amazing!
