Does anyone else here, when they're practicing their makeup at home or on someone else, feel a bit rubbish sometimes if it doesn't work out properly?

I'm not qualified or professional but i get so easily 'down' when i try out something new and it starts to look wrong or something and i think... "oh bugger it!" and i start to feel like i can't do it, i don't let myself feel poo about it all but i see so many artists around that are quite good and i wonder whether they have off days too? Does anyone else here have off days?

If so, how do you get yourself back on the horse? I end up sitting on my laptop watching tutorials and it usually helps me out a bit =)

Appreciate any help or advice <3

Not really. I mean, ultimately, it's just make-up. It's supposed to be fun and not be taken too seriously. Anyway, I find that I do better work when there's no pressure for everything to be perfect. If something goes wrong, either work with the mistake or just wipe off and start again. It's all good!

All the time! Especially when I'm trying out a new crease brush, hahaha. My eyes are not even or parallel at all so I have to have a very specific brush (MAC 217 works best so far). So when I try new crease brushes and the eyeshadow just looks bad, I get so down, hahaha. Or when I'm using dark shadow and I don't have time to fix it. It can make my whole day crappy.

I think everyone has those days but you've got to realize its just makeup and you can wash it off. Practice makes perfect and if you play with makeup when you're in the right frame of mind and get in a good mood about it, you'll be just fine :)

thanks guys =) that's so true, it is just makeup. I take it more seriously because there's lots riding on it so i guess i need to relieve pressure and put things into perspective!

We all can have those moments. I know I use to get frustrated because for some reason I felt this need to be quick about things, but now I just breathe in and wipe it off and start over. I have no idea why I didn't feel that was an option before lol. But as you go along, you will find little tricks and techniques that make things easier. Remember just breathe lol

Practice makes perfect! Besides, even if I grumble about it not looking good, I know I at least attempted, and I'm almost there when it comes to perfecting a look! Keep up the hard work, it'll pay off soon! =]
