Simple question: is it bad to exfoliate everyday?? (talking about the face)

I think it is! I have very sensitive acne prone skin and exfoliating it everyday would only irritate it more, my boyfriend exfoliates his face everyday with some CVS brand (pharmacy in NY) and his skin is perfect! So I guess it's different for different people depending on what skin type you have, for the most part my boyfriend has normal skin.

I use the st Ives exfoliating scrub everyday and I haven't been breaking out and as far as I can tell It has done no damage. Be sure to moisturize afterwards and use as needed because everyone has different skin and different needs for their skin.

It may dry out your skin over time so I would do it like every other day or less. Also you should try exfoliating your skin in the shower because the steam will open up your pores so you can get scrub and clean your pores.

Yes. It strips your skin of your natural oils, so if you've dry skin, it gets even drier and if you've oily skin, it might produce even more oil to compensate. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week if you've dry skin, and 2-3 times if you've oily skin.

Yes!! You will scrape off the new and growing skin and make your skin unhealthy. 1-2 times a week is plenty.

It depends on your skin type.. I have very oily skin and if I don't exfoliate daily my skin gets worse.

It's like washing your hair everyday, you're stripping away the oils you need. If its an abrasive one use 1-3 times a week depending on how oily you are but if you like to exfoliate everyday Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Cleansing Wash is safe to use everyday.

My derm said over exfoliation can remove precious oils and break tiny blood vessels around the delicate nose area. That was her advice to me based on MY skin..and so now I do a light exfoliation mid week and use my DDF every other weekend. My skin is SO much better now...soft and glows.

Jennaraye, That's what I use. It's delicate and effective. I can't use it every day, but my sister does.

Yes, skin needs time to "recover" after exfoliating. A day or two between exfoliating gives the skin time to repair, recommended is 2-3 times a week.

Depends on the exfoliator. I've found a couple that were mild and the beads were tiny and it was good for an everyday exfoliation but then I've also found scrubs and especially enzyme peels that are only good for once or twice a week at most. It really depends on the formula I suppose.

Yes! It's too rough for your skin!

Yes. It leaves skin more vulnerable and bacteria can hack into your pores and create more acne! Exfoliate once a month; according to the leading detmotologists.
