So I had my hair colored at a local salon. The red faded very quickly and I'm reluctant to go back and pay all that money just to go back to my natural hair. I really want to do it myself but how risky is it? My hair is naturally dark brown and is looking like a funky reddish light brown atm. This is the first time I've colored my hair so needless to say I have zero experience with dying how. Should I go for it?

It's a bit difficult to do on your own, but if you do, buy a color one or two shades lighter than you want your result to be, and try find a cool tone to remove the red :)

You could try. Or maybe go to a local cosmetology school. Students will do your hair but there are always licensed and highly experience professionals on the floor.

Red is a color that fades extremely fast and without the proper care it can be a headache

I color my own. There are temporary hair colorings that you can try out until you feel more comfy with permanent. Over time you get to know your hair and what colors work best for your hair, like what effect ash or golden will have on your particular color.
