Hi everyone(: I have very weird hair. It doesn't like to stayed curled for more than like 10 minutes when I use a regular barrel curling iron. My hair is naturally straight, and is hard to curl. Any suggestions on any products or anything that you recommened I use would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Sometimes you have to listen to your hair. If it doesn't want to curl, sometimes there is nothing you can do.
That being said, don't give up without a fight! First off, prep your hair with a curling spray gel (garnier makes really good curly hair products) before using the curing iron. Also, curling irons do not get all that hot, so try doing curls with your flat iron instead (provided you have a good one that goes to at least 400 degrees). It's not easy to do, but check out you tube. I'm sure there is a video. The basic principle is you roll your hair into a circle, then clamp it into the flat iron.
You can also try pin curls. This is what out grandmothers did back in the days before barrel irons. They aren't easy, but they work. Its the same principle, only you start with wet hair, coat it in gel, and instead of the flat iron you pin it in place and sleep like that.
Is that probably more effort than you are willing to go through? Yes. But pin curls will work. I did mermaid wave for a wedding, and the bride had extremely curl resistant hair. After four trial runs with curling irons, hot rollers, flat iron curls and a wet set, this was the only thing that worked.
My hair usually doesn't curl well either but i am happy to say that i finally have a no heat solution to it! I found these curling wands at Sally's Beauty Supply for like $7 and i must say they are well worth it! I just get out of the shower and come my hair then i twist my hair around the wands and bend up the ends to hold the hair. After putting the wands in i just go to bed and when i wake up in the morning i have beautiful curls with no heat or damage to my hair they typically last all day without hairspray but i would suggest using it for extra hold. They are amazing i am sure that you will love them as much as i do, hope this helps :) in a week or so i will be adding pictures of the results!
Hey girl, well if u like my curls from my pic. u can easily get it. All u need r 6-8 socks, it all depends of how much hair u have...I think u're pretty hairy...Well devide your hair in few heighlights and start curling it with the help of socks. Coil each strand around the socks and than easily tie the socks...I hope it will work! :*
Depending what look you want but I use white sands. It's like heat activate and it you spray heavily it turns your hair into concrete (which I then brush out and it looks fine) but it really does hold.
i have the same problem. my hair is super straight and wont hold a curl. my friend tried to do my hair one day with her ceramic curling iron and it worked perfectly and i still had the curls the next morning and i didnt have any product it in. i believe she used HERSTYLER 3P CERAMIC CURLER IRON SET from amazon (:
wow. that was my problem before.. my hair is also super straight, thick and so hard to curl! I love to have a curly hair and I'm done with all the methods there is on curling.. so I went to the salon, and got a perm. ^_^ the best solution for me. but depends in your case if your willing to give up your straight hair.!
