Go to the store and get some biotin (vitamin H). It's perfect for hair growth and health. Biotin also has many other benefits as well (skin, nails, etc.)!
yes dont skip trims! if anything, freshly cut hair grows faster! if you skip trims your ends will split and eventually break off (especially if you have color-treated hair). the breakage leads to the appearance of hair not growing at all because every time it does grow, just breaks off anyway...no results.
Definitely don't skip trims. If you have an idea of what you want your hair to look like when it is grown out, bring it to your hair dresser. I went from just above my chin to past my shoulders, and my hair dresser was able to give me several good transition cuts along the way so my hair had a style, but it was still able to grow into what I wanted as an end product.
Take Biotin supplements, and I would advise using products with keratin in it to help strengten your hair to prevent breakage. (My favorite It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In with Keratin) Also sleep in a deep conditioning mask weekly for optimal results.
I take Silica tablets which contain TONS of Biotin and Folic acid and I'm starting to get my hair trimmed every 8 weeks and I can already notice a difference in my hair :O
Prenatal vitamins and drinking 1-3tbl of apple cider vinegar (Bragg's brand - it's organic) a day diluted in 8oz of warm water with some honey. You can even massage it into the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles. I also use coconut oil as a deep conditioner once a week
I used 'Mane and Tail' brand shampoo when I grew mine out. Really does work.
I agree with not skipping the trims. Also try massaging/gently tugging your hair when you shampoo to stimulate the hair follicle and only condition the ends
Wash & rinse in COLD water only, use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, don't wash every day, take biotin, and use a protein filler & argan oil! That's the system that has worked WONDERS for me. And try to avoid blow drying and heat styling if you can (I NEVER blow dry my hair...).
Try to use straighteners or curling irons as little as possible, deep condition at least once a week, and get a trim about every two months to ensure healthy hair growth.
Eat healthy (leafy greens, nuts, protein, fruits, veggies, legumes, etc.), drink a lot of water, exercise to stimulate hair growth, wash hair every other day at most, massage scalp regularly, deep condition at least once a week, take multivitamins, do not brush hair wet, use a wide tooth comb or fingers to detangle, keep hair in protective hairstyles often (braids and buns), use a satin pillow case to minimize tangles, apply essential oils on length and ends once a week (olive oil, coconut, almond, etc.), try to stay away from sulfates which dry out hair, trim split ends when needed, do not dye hair (damaging), avoid heat styling, remove build up when needed, use loose hairstyles to prevent damage, and be patient :) by the time you know it your hair will grow!
if you want to grow your hair out make sure your trimming your hair often. When you trim your hair take off the dead ends. Also you can take biotin pills, mine were 3 dollars at Target. The pills will help your hair grow and help your nails and skin as well.
Try not to trim it to often though. If you keep triming your hair, you just cut of hair you'e just grown out meaning your hair will stay the same lenght. Trim it when you have split ends and NEED a hair cut not just the sake of cutting it. (: but yes do get hair cuts. Ive also heard the castor oil helps hair growth. Im going to try it as well
You want to trim your hair about every 6 weeks. And when your stylist trims your hair, tell them only a quarter of an inch. Hair grows an average half inch a month so you want to make sure that you don't get the new growth cut off. Biotin is great and so is fish oil supplements. Getting deep conditions about once a month is good for your hair too. I would be careful with mane-n-tail though, that's a lot of protein your putting in your hair and can sauté your hair to become course and not flexible which can cause breakage. The main thing is keeping it conditioned, using an Aragon oil on the ends to keep the ends healthy if you use heat a lot and keeping the ends nearly trimmed. You'll notice it growing super fast! That's what I do with my clients and they get results in no time.
