A highlight can be many different products! It basically just accentuates the actual cheekbone, making it appear more pronounced, while the contour makes the hollow under that cheekbone appear deeper. The dark takes away, while the light brings out. They have creams, sticks, powder and even liquid highlighting products. Most of them contain shimmer or fine luminating particles. You can even high light by using a lighter foundation or concealer. Some popular ones are:
Sticks: Nars' The Multiple Stick, Nyx Tango with Bronzing Stix, Cargo Color Sticks.
Liquid: Moon Beam/High Beam by Benefit, Smashbox Artificial Light Luminzing Lotion.
Cream: Urban Decay Urbanglow Highlight, Cream Color Base by MAC
Powder: MAC Mineralized Skin Finish, Too Faced Candle Light, too many others!

Its suppose to add that "healthy glow" to your face, I recommend the ones I use: Nars Albatross & theBalm Mary Lou Manizer, brush lightly, watch YouTube videos on how to apply it.
