ATTENTION LADIES!!! Whom so ever is limited by a brand, status,or a fantasy idea of a makeup company is selling themselves short and is lacking true passion, knowledge and interest for Makeup itself. We all know that REAL artist and makeup junkies have no boundaries . There is truly something special about every brand that I have tried (over hundreds) and to be frank most of these brands are owned by the same companies anyway. Not to mention L'oreal ranking in the top 3 of highest selling makeup companies in the world.!!! Quality is everything and I have tried several high end companies and drugstore brands alike that lacked it.
so to answer this question there is enough Brittney T makeup Love to go around to drugstore and high end prestige makeup!! <3
I've found some really terrible high end brands but some really good lower end brands, so it all depends.
For drugstore I think NYX is amazing, also Essence and a few ELF products.
As for higher end I like a lot of brands but I always make sure I research the brand I'm thinking of buying because just because something is high end doesn't mean it's good. I've gone into MAC and swatched some terrible eyeshadows and blushes - why pay $47 aus when I can get a NYX blush that has amazing pigment for less than $10!
You know there are other reasons to avoid drugstore brands besides elitism right? People who are vegan, dedicated to using only products/ingredients that are completely cruelty-free, and sensitivity or allergies to common chemical ingredients in many drugstore and some high-end brands as well are all valid reasons to be selective about what you purchase. I for one, am severely limited in the moisturizers and sunscreens I can use because any amount of chemical sunscreen will cause my skin to burn and turn bright red for weeks. Finding products using only titanium dioxide or zinc oxide (or without a sunscreen even in the case of moisturizer) is pretty much impossible with drugstore and it's not much easier in the local co-op or vegan store, most have trace amounts of the chemical SS to supplement the physical sunscreens, but finding one or two is way nicer than finding nothing. Some of these have been expensive, others cheaper than drugstore, all of them super obscure (to me at least). The assertion that because I no longer consider drugstore moisturizer an option, or have a strict policy about what ingredients go into my skincare and makeup (particularly eye makeup) because I don't want my skin or eyes taking in potentially harmful chemicals or harsh dyes and minerals, means that I'm not equally passionate about makeup and beauty products is ludicrous. Neither of us is superior to the other, we simply have different situations and priorities.
@Brittney T. Wow!! I'm lacking true passion, knowledge, and interest for make-up because 75% of my stash is Bobbi Brown? I think that is tad bit judgemental and insulting. I know for myself personally the reason why I buy up a lot of Bobbi is because it is a line that showed me much love when I was mistreated at another store (MAC). And every year Bobbi Brown sends me a full-size gift as a way of saying thank you for being such a great supporter (this year it was a $68 eye cream that works great for me). Its called brand loyalty. I'm loyal to her brand because of numerous positive results I've experienced with the products and the MUA's who respresent her line. I've explored other lines as well and I'm happy when I find something that works for me...both drug store and high-end. You shouldn't be so quick to label folks for what they favor the most because there are folks like Ashley S. whose skin can only afford going high-end and myself who happen to be a hardcore BB fan who collects just about everything she has.
I use mainly high end make up, I have found out for myself by trying all price ranges that the more expensive usually tends to be the better quality, how ever I have a few random purchases from drugstores that are exceptions.
Most of my collection is high-end, but there are so many amazing drugstore gems I couldn't live without (mascaras, lipsticks, even concealers!). Good and bad products exist at EVERY price point, but it's up to all of us to do our own research and decide what's worth a splurge.
I have a big mix of stuff! Some drugstore stuff has been awful, but so has some high end stuff. I think makeup is a really hit and miss kind of thing, and you'd be surprised what awesome finds you can get for less money! NYX for example is really inexpensive, but is amazing in my opinion!
It depends on the product. For things like foundation I have no choice but to spend more because I have pale skin and drugstore brands just don't accommodate for pale people! Besides that I'm quite happy buying drug store make up! I do like to treat myself and splurge on high end make up every now and then though :)
@Brittney...
<<Whom so ever is limited by a brand, status,or a fantasy idea of a makeup company is selling themselves short and is lacking true passion, knowledge and interest for Makeup itself. We all know that REAL artist and makeup junkies have no boundaries.>>
I agree with Shelley; that's pretty insulting and condescending.
Anyway, I have a mix of drugstore and higher-end products, but for me, these days there are certain products that I will spend the money on -- foundation (largely because most drugstore brands don't cater to pale beauties in that department), powder eyeshadow (I've also had better fortune with higher end e/s, Sleek's palettes being an exception for me), and concealer (same reason as foundation).
We are in agreement (besides the insulting and condescending remark) That was not the intention.
I too agree with Shelly W. It is never Okay to accept mistreatment from a company no matter who they are. We are the consumers and the reason why these brands thrive!!!
I am happy to know that you agree with me about trying all makeup whether drugstore or high end. My point is that you can miss out on very good products by name branding.
After 10 years in the makeup Industry I have realized that there is value in many different products depending on what your looking for. whether your allergic, vegan etc.. research the products that you use! Do not be fooled by the elitism. :)))
<3
I'm excited because today I bought my first HE makeup! A friend and I just went into Chanel on a whim and I remembered all the hype surrounding the rouge noir lipstick. As soon as I saw it swatched on my hand, I know I had to get it ^^
I have a combination of both, i get my mascarra from a drugstore but any other else are high end. I believe it's REALLY worth your money! I noticed when i was using drugstores for my makeups, i get bored with it easily, and doesn't get what i was expecting. Unlike with the high end, it lasts and i would still get the same thing once it's finished.
Considering that I'm still in high school with limited funds, I'm a true believer in drug store brands. As long as you're conscious of the ingredients you are putting on your face, I believe you can still get great results by making good choices. :)
For Foundation I use Drugstore Just Cuz My Skin Isnt Too Bad. All Other Products I Have Are Both High End And Drugstore, Drugstore Has Really Stepped Its Game Up These Past Few Years
I usually use high end makeup as far as eyeshadow mascara and bronzer and blush. But for my foundation, I love maybelline. They have high coverage and everything.

(*Brittney*) Hi Doll.. let me start by saying I love ur passion in ur Post.. But we are gonna agree to disagree.. i wouldn't Disclaim any other MAKEUP ARTIST by labeling them as lacking passion because of a simple belief. The ability to be in the same situation and have a different opinion or point of view of something is the beauty of life, Therefore that isn't really any of our place to say. I do However agree that any Artist with hopes on lasting in this industry/field should have varied brand knowledge without boundaries, I do not agree in the notion that this directly means they lack knowledge and true passion. The complete end of your post was beautifully written and 100 percent relatable ... I am glad to know that there are other artist out there that feel the same as me but i would just add that there are other reasons why ppl choose different brands.. None of which making somebody better than the next !XOXO
(*Bec*) I agree i love NYX... especially the Jumbo milk eyeliner pencil & i use nyx as a base alot. Have u tried their new brushes??? I am contemplating getting them
(*Ashley*) I agree 100% i couldn't have said it better!
(*Shelley*) I disagree with her statement aswell.. i feel like no MUA choice in brands defines who they are as an artist person... and I Love ur explanation doll! xoxo
(*Emma*) I love your Photo Doll... Its Gorg.. great work I am pretty much the same way.> i vary but i do wear lots of Highend... because i think ur face isn't something to be cheap with.. but i do like many drugstore brandsaswell.... it depends on quality for me
(*Victoria*) I agree I love high end things but drugstore mascaras and eyeliners are best.. What brand concealers do you prefer?
(*Jacklyn*) Agreed makeup can really be hit or miss.. it all comes down to quality
(*Jordana*) Agreed What are some of you fav products & brands doll?
(*Shelley*)I agree taht was insulting.. i understood her message but the wording wasn't right... What is your Fav Foundation Shelley.. ia m trying to find a new one to start using.
(*Britney*) Its how it came off Doll.. but as i said before the rest of your statement was completely relate-able and i agree with u and Shelley w. on the part about not accepting mistreatment from companies. & Not being fooled by elitism
(*Ashley*) soo Reviews???? how was it doll. was it worth the money???
(*Janelle*) Agreed mascara for me .. i go drugstore route but foundation i go with what i know.. highend
(*Carelen*) Exactly its about what works for you sweetheart... Whats some of your favorite drugstore brands & products?
(*Jessica*) I agree Drugstore has been up-ing their game lately
(*Toniann*) Great exactly which Maybelline foundation.. i would love to try it Doll
Hey Dolls I am soo sorry I am soo late responding but i have been working on creating this productline.. to bring you dolls something new and refreshing & its keeping me timed consumed but i love checking back and and seeing u ladies feedback... on this hot topic of Drugstore vs. Highend
Anyway Talk to u soon Dolls

High end is always nice...I had to try lots of different things both high end and drug store to find my perfect combo and favorite products. When money is no problem I buy what I need and want high end...when money is tight I know what drug store products work for me the same as high end.

@tierra lol I think I may have meant to type blush instead of brush lol and I was asking about the new cream eyeshadow stick http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/pro...
I like both mid-end and drugstore. I believe in investing in foundation and concealer, so I will buy Nars/Bobbi Brown/ MUFE for that. I also like some of urban decay's offerings. I will never buy a mascara thats more than 8-9 bucks- especially not when I throw away mascara every 2 months. I will occasionally buy a MAC lipglass, but most of my lippies are drugstore. Eyeshadow can either be drugstore or highend. Most of my collection is drugstore , because um hello , I get an employee discount lol
The only high end things I own are foundation/brushes, and eyeshadow/primer, because I find they are generally better for your skin and better looking/feeling on it, too.
Eyeliners, are iffy, I think both high end and drugstore have great ones, same with blush.
A translucent powder is a translucent powder, to me. I think high end mascaras are a waste of money, because there are SO many amazing drugstore mascaras.
Drugstore lipsticks, liners, and glosses are also great. If there was going to be one thing I would splurge on that I already don't, it would be my skincare. cleansers, moisturizers, ect. So basically, I have a mix of both, whatever works for me. I'm definitely not a snob about drugstore products; there are many great ones out there.
