This may be a silly question but I don't understand the difference between BB Cream and Foundation. Do you use them separately or together?? Is BB cream the same thing as a foundation?? Also, do you apply foundation before concealer?? I used to only use foundation and bronzer, but I want to know more about these other face make up products.
Foundation and BB cream are similar. You would not use both. BB is a replacement for foundation. It's basically your foundation plus sunscreen, plus skin care. It's pretty awesome stuff. I highly recommend trying the Asian ones though. The overall opinion is the original Korean and Japanese BBs are much better than the new American ones. I like Missha M perfect cover, particularly because it comes in a few different shades (most Asian ones only come in one shade).
Concealer should go on after foundation.
The drugstore BB creams are nothing like what the actual BB creams are.The drugstore ones are basically tinted moisturizer with a new name. i've heard skin 79 is very good BB cream but you have to purchase it online
I'm going to second sabrina here. A drugstore BB is not a BB cream.
I've head great things about Skin79 also.
Your best bet is to go to eBay and buy a bunch of samples of different BBs and see which ones you like. I bought six samples (2 missha m, 2 skin79, 1 brtc, 1 holika holika) for a whopping $12 including shipping. This let me find one that matched my skin tone and that I liked the texture/coverage.
Oh, since a true BB is a foundation, you should use a silicone based primer with it. It just works better.
To learn more about BBs in general and all the Asian and American ones, check out the blog Musings of a Muse. That girl is obsessed with BBs.
I'll have to keep that in mind. The one I bought has like zero coverage. I'm always feeling cautious about buying foundations and all that online because I never know if what I buy is going to match my skin tone.
I watched a tutorial on YT where a girl used a BB cream and then put foundation on top. It was insane. Her skin looked like a mask. I definitely wouldn't recommend that! There's some really awesome BB cream sellers on Amazon that I've bought from that send samples of other types along with whatever you purchase so you can see what'll work best for you. Personally I like the US drugstore BBs better, because I have freckles and the legit BB creams give me too much coverage. Which one did you get?
Maybelline Fresh Dream. I have freckles too, but I'm also super acne prone :/ I like how soft it is and it goes on super smooth, but I need something with more coverage.
You can use them together but I personally don't because for me that would defeating the purpose of having five products rolled into one. I do sometimes add undereye concealer if I had a long night and short on sleep and I set with trans. powder.
I have the Garnier one and I think it provides a decent amount of coverage. It can be built up too. Maybe you could try the Fresh Dream all over and a concealer just on areas where you need it? A friend of mine uses one of the Missha BBs and she sets it with mineral foundation to get a little extra coverage without it looking too heavy, that's also an option for you.
