Every time I use a waterproof eyeliner on my waterline or even on my top eyelid very close to my lash line, my contacts start to get some sort film on top of them and everything looks blurry. The worst part is that the contacts get ruined, there's no way to make that film disappear.
I was wondering if anyone else have this problem, how do you prevent it or deal with it?
I really like the waterproof eyeliners because they're the most rich on color out there that don't budge! Please help!
I wear contacts and have been for about thirteen years. I use Maybelline ExpertWear pencil and that has never happened to me :/ Maybe ask your eye doctor the next time you go in? He/she will probably know how to help you.
But those aren't waterproof or are they? :P I mean, I can use the Urban decay liners and no problem... but I LOVE the Stila one because it doesn't move
I wear contacts, and I've had issues with dryness, sometimes tearing up, and sometimes getting that filmy substance. I've switched both contact and solution brands, and it's helped immensely. I highly recommend talking to your eye doctor, they are the most qualified to deal with this.
Also, I only ever buy hypoallergenic, or contact safe, or "for sensitive eyes" formulas. Since you wear contacts, you should too. They're not always as easy to find, but if it stops the film forming, it will be worth it the extra few minutes spent reading packaging. You might also have to compromise on using waterproof. It sounds like you don't want to, but if the payoff is not wasting money on contacts that you have to throw away, in my book, that's worth it. Or at least worth considering.
Good luck!
Laura O, try Revlon color stay waterproof eyeliner. I just had a bad experience with too-faced, it did exactly what you described and have had the same experience with other types as well. The Revlon doesn't have the most interesting colors, but it stays on and it doesn't cause any drama with the contacts, which is really crucial if you are blind as a bat like myself. I have brownish green eyes and I like the Navy and the brown/black; they also have a slate gray, brown, and of course black. I wish they had an eggplant and a mossy green, but no such luck. Hope this helps.

Nope, the stila one... I don't remember the name but it's a twist up kind of liner. I only use pencils on my waterline

That also happens with the tarte liners... The big chubby pencils that have a smudging sponge on the other end
