Hey guys, I purchased Maybelline SuperStay 10 hour lipgloss in luxurious lilac. I was expecting it to be LILAC or a light lavender shade. However, it's straight up purple! How can I make this work without looking ridiculous or overdone? Would you wear this shade out?

Exchange it for a lighter Lilac color, I have a purple lipgloss I recommend that you might like better: L'Oreal Infallible (6 hr never fail) lipgloss in "Undeniable Mauve" 515, fafinettex3 wears this & recommends it, a very pretty wearable purple color & smells amazing! I got mine for around $9-$10 at CVS.

I would try lining and filling with a red liner and use the purple on top. Mix them to make a rich burgundy color for fall!

You can use a lighter lip gloss to lighten your lips up. You can try Revlon's Lilac pastelle.

I wear turquoise lips out.
I'd definitely wear that purple out.

I would SO rock that! That's just my style though.

I agree with Kathryn - I could see that looking absolutely gorgeous with a bright red lip liner under it. It'd tone it down & create a beautiful color.

For an everyday look, I'd dab the gloss on using a ring finger over my regular lipsticks. It would probably darken the colour a lil and give your lips a whole new look without it being too purple!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice! I'm definitely going to try out these tips. And thanks for not making me feel like it wasn't a too outlandish color. I'm definitely not used to bold lip colors.
