there are so many products out there for skin and hair. how do i know which ones to use?

first you have to know your skin type. oily, dry, combo... once you've done that narrow your search to things for your skin type. then start looking at whats in the stores near you, whats in your price range, etc. then just look at reviews.
and for hair same thing, find your hair type, if you usually use heat products find a shampoo that will help strengthen and repair. lots of people are going for sulfate free lately, which is also a great thing to look for.
