I'm a Mary Kay consultant I saw it was mentioned I never used it because it can get pricey but since I've become a consultant I won't use anything else my skin has cleared up and my stuff lasts forever !!! I hear about Mary Kay but it's always the price I've looked into other cosmetics and the price now days is not much different and it lasts. If u wanna check it out go to http://www.marykay.com/kcraft05 I also never heard of some of the brands listed but I love makeup !!!
I dont know if Concrete minerals counts as I think it is more of an indie company but I just tried their eyeshadow and it is the only purple color I have found that actually shows up on me! All these years I could never wear purple and ugh it killed me lol. But I tried their purple and BAM it worked. Their red matte color is very pigmented and pretty for super bold looks as well. They are one of my must haves for sure.
Avon has always have a perfumy smell that I'm not a fan of. I'm trying to go cruelty free in my health and beauty products and it can be really difficult to determine animal testing policies. Too Faced and Bare Minerals are two cruelty free brands that I love. I've just tried Lime Crime and am loving their liquid liner, although I wish it were waterproof. Glamour Doll Eyes and Sugarpill are two of the best Indy makeup companies I've found.
Where I live I don't know anyone else my age who frequents Sephora as much as I do or own as much. Not even the girls who are licensed makeup artists! So here, I'd have to say Benefit and Too Faced (particularly TF, you can't even get it at Shoppers.)
Collection 2000! It's cheap but high quality. I've been using their liquid eyeliner for 8 years now and it's never let me down. They now also do an awesome gel liner that I've fallen in love with. Their concealer is the best I've found when it comes to concealing dark circles.
I also think Barry M doesn't get a lot of credit. They have some AMAZING eyeshadow colours that last for years.
Yes to Mary Kay and Avon!! I have a few items from both and I've been quite impressed. Especially with Mary Kay's lipsticks and Avon's lip liner pencils and eye palettes and Avon nail polish has a great selection of colors that are trends.
Being the daughter of a Mary Kay rep might make me biased but I get the fullest of coverage with their foundations and powders... Love them!!! Their shadows and lipsticks are quite beautiful as well :)
Ben Nye, Cargo and Sheseido (especially their lipsticks). Annabelle is an amazing Canadian drugstore brand but I don't think it's underrated here in Canada.
I also agree with the Hourglass e/s duos, sooo lovely!
I'm gonna be honest, I'm an Avon rep and I think Avon is completely underrated. They have so many different things for a fraction of the price of every other brand. People hate on them due to the idea it's for older people but that's so so not true! They have beautiful lip colors, blushes, foundations, nail polishes ect.
Fyrinnae is underrated to me. Their Arcane shadows are simply genius. I don't think Estee Lauder is getting the attention it deserves. Their line has been revamped and they have been coming out with great products lately.
(Hourglass eye shadows are lovely. I have two of their duos and they are soft and buttery.)
I'm probably going to start trouble but I'm going to say Lime Crime. Yeah there was controversy long ago but people are afraid of the brand.
They have the most beautiful palettes now, the lipsticks are amazing, colored liners are perfect, lovely nail polishes too. Everything I've tried is just wonderful! The matte pastel themed palette has some of the most perfect matte shadows I've ever tried. And I will say the primer is the BEST makeup product I own.
@Susan: I remember when Hard Candy was at Sephora, when they were owned by Urban Decay. One of the first HC anything I bought (and one of my first Sephora purchases) was a baby blue nail polish that was lovely (I think it may've been the infamous Sky?). They're now owned by the same company that owns Accessorize in the UK; the packaging is quite similar, and I think they have similar products.

Saucebox Cosmetics is underrated. It's very similar to Sugarpill only less expensive (as if Sugarpill is "expensive") and more colors.

If the Wiki article is accurate, one of the former owners now owns tokidoki.

Pixi and NP Set (both are a bit pricey but well worth the price - they're sold at Target)
