In middle and high school I had very oily skin, constant breakouts, and rare days of clear skin. No one else in my family has this problem, so they had very little advice to give me. I tried many products and when I finally felt like things were getting better, it's as if my DNA was rewritten on my 18th birthday and now I have had dry and easily irritated skin ever since. I still have break outs and I have no idea what to do about it. If anything, they have gotten worse!
Money is is an issue, so I would love some cheap or DIY remedies for my complicated skin.
break outs include: blackheads on nose and just acne all over.
If your skin is dry now, make sure you are moisturizing a lot. If your skin dries out, it will kick start your oil glands and cause break outs.
Avoid foaming cleansers or acne cleansers. Try Cetaphil or neutrogena extra gentle cleanser. Then get a good moisturizer. Neutrogena and Olay make great ones at the drugstore level. Also consider getting a retinol product. They are promoted as anti-aging, but retinoids were invented to treat acne. For that go with neutrogena or Roc.
If you can splurge on one thing, I'd recommend Bliss Clog dissolving cleansing milk. It's $28 but it's the best acne face wash for dry/sensitive skin. It also doubles as a five minute mask. If you can swing it, it's worth it. Also, it's a big bottle and you only need about 1-2 pumps per wash so it lasts. I buy it maybe twice a year, tops.
