i have naturally medium brown hair, but i have been dying it a pretty dark brown for about four years now. i decided i wanted a change and wanted to go lighter, so ive been getting blonde and caramel highlights since december. ive gotten them three different times now, and the last time the lady put a ton of them. i guess my hair is still mostly brown, maybe half. anyways, i picked up a travel size bottle of the John Frieda Go Blonder lightening shampoo. i thought this would be good since i have a ton of blonde now and im trying to lighten up. my question is, will this shampoo do anything to the brown in my hair? i do still want to keep some of the brown, and i dont want this shampoo to turn it orange or anything. the bottle says "gradually lightens" and "for all blondes"
technically there is still brown dye in my hair, but its faded a bunch and the last time i actually died it dark was probably around october. do you guys think this will do anything to the brown in my hair?
i use a purple shampoo by matrix to tone my hair, its blonde on top and dark underneath and it only tones it doesnt fade my dark color. but it does a great job keeping my blonde a very bright pretty blonde.
Shimmer Lights is good, but I like Shiny Silver better because of the smell, haha. Purology has an awesome line of products called Perfect4Platnium, which is also a good option for the brown in your hair because those products have no sulfates. The best option for keeping your color in the best condition is to use a sulfate free shampoo and a purple shampoo maybe once or twice a week.
If it says "go blonder" it probably has a lightening agent in it and will not only lighten the brown in your hair, but probably won't do it evenly. Everyone else is correct with using a purple shampoo. Almost every pro line has one, but you def dont want to use it more then 2x a week or you will tint your hair silver or purple.
