Hi girls so I have red hair and I want to try going blond but I don't want to bleach my hair I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what hair dyes I should use and I know it wont really lighten that much after one application but I'm patient and am willing to dye it a couple of times
color won't lift color. no matter how many times you dye it. if you wanna lift out the red i recommend using a color extractor. pravana has a good one i've used on many clients -- it has no ammonia and you can get it without a license. more info here: http://wptest.pravana.com/wp-conten...
depending on how blond you want to go you may have to tone your hair after using the color extractor. unfortunately, red is the hardest color to lift out of the hair. do you have a photo of how blonde you want to go?
IMO, no matter how light you want to go, there's going to be some bleach involved. As Lise said, colour isn't going to lift colour. Also IMO? Get it done professionally. (Colour is one of those things that, personally, I'm not a massive fan of trying at home. Things can go wrong, you know!)
no, the pravana artificial color extrator is not as harsh as bleach. it works better in my opinion. however, shelly t. does have a point -- some things are better left to the professionals. i am slightly biased because i'm a stylist, but there is nothing sadder than seeing someone come in with a completely botched home dye job. not saying this will happen to you, but you do need to keep the integrity of your hair in mind -- even if you are planning on staying away from bleach!
that's a pretty color, kind of a golden beige. since there is some warmth you might be able to achieve it with the extractor.....i'd say try the pravana at home -- it can't hurt. if it's still not what you want go to a salon! do your research on a place that has a good reputation, bring in photos, and have an insanely detailed explanation of your hair history and what you want. work with the stylist so you can get your money's worth and the hair color you want. good luck!
