Ughhh, I only just started Youtube, but I'm already in a bit of a rut!! :/
I love making videos, and I LOVE beauty, and I know that I have helped people because I have a few very loyal subscribers that I talk to frequently. My biggest thing is sometimes I just feel like I shouldn't bother...I've never worried too much about how many subscribers I have, I pay more attention to my views. I do have quite a high view count relative to the number of subscribers I have, and considering how new I am to YT. I wonder though, maybe it's bad that my views are high, people must not like me enough to subscribe. IDK...
Maybe everyone feels like this sometimes. Plus, I really don't spam people asking them to subscribe, I promote on here, but I really am not aggressive about doing it because again, numbers aren't everything to me. But at the same time, maybe I should be doing more to gain more subscribers? So since I am not very aggressive, I tend to go up and down on my sub count. Like yesterday, I gained 3, but lost two. So it also kinda feels like I'm just stuck running in place. I'm a little discouraged right now, even just typing this and getting my thoughts out is helping me!
Has anyone else been in a rut like this? I really doubt that I will quit, I'm just a little discouraged right now...
I've been one YouTube for two years and hit 250,000 views, but only have 513 (I had 514 but lost one today) and the sub count goes up and down as well. I don't have really awesome equipment. I don't have an HD camera and I have to use Windows Movie Maker to edit, which means converting files and quality ends up going down because of converting. With 80% or so people on YT with HD cameras, I know a lot of viewers just love~ that HDness.
I don't know what else to do besides keep on doing what I've been doing because it is my channel and I only do videos I enjoy, but... yeeeah. My newest video was uploaded on Sunday and it's hitting 1,000 views today and that's awesome, but I know I've only gotten maybe one or two subscribers from it. Sometimes my 1k+ videos don't get subscribers at all.
I've never even thought about the HD thing....Honestly, I have never had a preference, but I could see how that might matter to some people.
I like the term HDness, lol.
I actually watch your videos, I believe that I found your channel through this site. You do have really good view counts, and my gut always tells me that views are much more important than having tons of subs. But naturally, you can't help but feel discouraged when subs count and view counts are so different.
I guess it's at least comforting to know that I am not alone, and that other girls go through this too. I also want to say, that I really love your looks! I love how you always pop color onto your inner tear-duct area, and the lower lash-line, it always makes your makeup look so fun. I also think that you are great with bright and fun colors. A lot of people are intimidated with those kinds of colors, and I love that you are bold enough to use them, and skilled enough to make it look good!
I will not let a rough patch be the end of my channel, because I do LOVE beauty and making videos! I am seeing that sometimes it will get me down, but it's kind of like that with everything in life, I suppose...
I deff. know how you feel! i even stopped for a little while (actually a couple of times) just because I'm like why should i? I'm not making any progress but then i think maybe i am i just don't see it! and i start up again by motivating myself life watching dulcecandy87 or heart and realize i want to be in the same position helping millions of people and it all comes back to me why i started to begin with!
I have a few videos with high view counts, one has over 200,000, but I don't have nearly that amount of subscribers. That's pretty normal for YT and I wouldn't be worried if I were you.
However, unfortunately, there are SO many people making beauty videos on YT that it is very hard to be noticed and to stick out of the crowd nowadays. It's also difficult for me to find new YTers because there are tons to sift through until I find some that suit my particular taste. One of the reason's I like beautylish, I can browse through videos/photos to find new people.
I just started YouTube a few weeks ago and I've only got about five videos up, but I spend a lot of time on them and even though I have to record with my Macbook, I know they're good quality! My view count is high but I've only got 25 subs right now. I'm just gonna keep plugging. I know people will find me and I promote however I can without being pushy. Don't lose hope, girls! Do this because you love it!!
Again, it's comforting to know that I am not alone. Luckily, you meet great people along the way, and I have been getting so much support from some of my fellow Youtubers, it has really renewed my spirit.
@Ashley--It is great that you have a goal to keep in mind! I'm glad you've come back to it! :)
@Heather-- You are so right about how many people there are, it's kinda insane when you think about it. The big thing I think is to just keep at it, and do it for myself, NOT to gain tons of subscribers, because that's not really the point. I just sometimes still get down and feel discouraged, but it's normal. And I still feel like views ARE more important than subs. I've never been under the impression that I am going to be the next TiffanyD so I am perfectly content with being a small not-known Youtuber. I just do it for fun because I love love love beauty! :) If I can just help one person, I'm happy, I just loose sight of that sometimes, and I can't do that!
@Lacy--I just subbed and will check out all of your videos! Honestly, for me, I'd rather see less videos, but have them be well thought out, and better quality. I admire the way you promote yourself. That's how I do it too, and sometimes it is hard seeing people that you talk to pass you by because they are aggressive and only do sub4sub, but I just keep reminding myself that it doesn't matter. They can do them, and I'll do me. You're doing great so far!!
That's exactly the way to look at it! I also do not do it to gain a ton of subscribers, I have a group of loyal viewers and I like it that way. If I get a wave of new subs, that's great too, but it's not a necessity.
@Heather, you're doing great though, I think you are rocking it!! I've been subscribed for a while because I just love how you've really gone and set yourself apart. You're not all about doing smokey eyes in every video....I respect that, and having a group of loyal subscribers is honestly the best!! Keep doing what you're doing, you're great! <3
i had over 100 videos and i deleted them all cause i felt the same way you did. but im starting back up so if you could help me out and come visit my channel http://www.youtube.com/jaclynsmynam...
Sure thing, Jaclyn! I hope it goes better this time around, I'm finally starting to get out of my rut a little, but it's hard sometimes. Please check out my channel too if you get a chance too! :)
