Gel and 3D Nail Art Advice!

I just bought a gel nail setup and the acrylic nail setup to do 3D nail art. I'm very excited about it! Does anybody have good tips for noobs starting out with this? I also got some fake nails to practice on, since I know the chemicals are strong and don't want to mess up my real nails with practicing. I've gotten my nails done at the Japanese salon enough to have a basic idea of what's going on but would love any tips. Here is a pic of what I've gotten in the past at the salon. Hopefully I can do my own from now on and get crazy with it!

Tonight was so much fun.... NAIL PARTY 2012....!!!
I think we were putting the A>R>T> in 3D NAIL ART....
So many fun looks to look for...!

Hooray! Amazing nails! ha ha ha! They look like something the bear made, but I'm excited about them. Now I need to go get some glue so I can wear these out!
