I am thinking about becoming a make up artist after i graduate. Do i need to go to tafe or to universary for this?? also for work any ideas where i could look for a job thanks xoxox
Brittany, I suggest reading some of the other threads in this forum on this topic. The short answer is no, you don't need any schooling unless you are trying to work in a spa or salon type environment
You don't necessarily need any schooling for it. There is a girl who works at M.A.C. in Fairfield and she is only 19 and has been doing many make up gigs since she has been out of high school, but it takes time and practice. If you wanted to go to school just to have some background knowledge and another degree/ certificate on your wall, that would be even better because in a sense you have been verified. I would recommend looking for jobs in the makeup industry AND going to school. You can never get enough education. Look for jobs at M.A.C., Sephora, Ulta, and if there are any local makeup places in the town you live in, apply there too. You must have a portfolio of your work to show though. Good luck with your career goals!
