I have hyperpigmentation and redish skin not to mention any blemishes! I am a long time devotee to Jane Iredales pure pressed base. It gives great coverage and i only need to use a little concealer. Also this powder is great for irritated skin ie sunburns irritation...it wont break you out. Whenever i go to my derm for a chemical peel she applies a thick coat of this powder after my treatment and i can tell a huge difference, such a relief!
I love Meow Cosmetics. You get 30 grams for $20. The only down side is it's online only and you have to buy samples. If you're familiar with your undertone, it isn't a problem. I'm still on my first jar that I purchased in April 2011.
Stay faaar away from Bare Minerals. It sent me running to the derm.
I love BM for years but then I developed an allergy to it all of a sudden :( I really like Laura Mercier's mineral powder foundation (loose) that gives a natural medium coverage and her powder compact too that you can apply wet or dry - gives full matte coverage.
maybeline new york dream matte powder!! i aways use them as powder after i put liquid foundation om my skin and it works sooooo well! and its also so cheap!
I also have combo skin. I used BM for about 3 years, with no adverse skin reactions but it was always too yellow on me, even in its lightest shade. Hearing all the raving about MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, I bought it as a setting powder for under eye concealer..but ended up using it as that and powder foundation - it works better than anything ive ever tried. Coverage depends on how dense the brush you use is- I use BM's flawless face brush, so it packs on the powder a bit to about medium coverage. Covers my pores and uneven skintone caused by rosaecea beautifully and the finish is like a semi-matte.
The ones by MAC & MUFE are awesome. But I must agree stay away from Bare Minerals.. there seems to be such a high percentage of people that it just doesn't work for.
Mac studio fix - if u want full coverage use a makeup sponge, medium coverage use a kabuki brush and buff it in - for light coverage use a powder brush. This powder is incredibly versatile. Best for oily/combination skins. If u find it looks too powdery wait 3 mins and it will settle in nicely. If you are impatient spritz some mac fix + lighly for a nice dewy finish and this eliminates the powder finish instantly.
i have used Shiseido Powdery foundation for years...i always go back to it...kind o like my elnett hairspray..everytime i stray..i always go back to my original..
I have combo skin myself and used Bare Minerals for 6 years, all my skin did was break out it was so sad! I have and now been using Pur Minerals 4-1 pressed foundation for the past 4 years and see NO changing that! Its amazing and my skin has never looked for felt better :)

Bare Minerals gave me trouble too. I like Neutrogena's powder foundation. I just do a little spot treatment if I have super red spots and cove.

@mint p. i don't really consider dream matte powder as POWDER FOUNDATION, it seems more of a setting powder.

Mac studio fix, and BM are not photo ready, they contain mica and spf. Try MUFE duo mat if youre oily or smashbox halo powder.
