So I have had a youtube channel for over a year, i have some videos up. I live with my boyfriend and he knows that i love watching videos and want to start making regular ones but he says comments that i really dont like and makes me feel stupid for even wanting to put myself out there on youtube. Any advice ladies? Should I just do what I want and not care what he thinks?
Do what you want! Don't worry about him; he should be supporting your desire to make videos! Not saying you're not, but even if you're not as experienced as the big gurus, don't worry. I think that's most people's excuse for not making videos -- "I'm not experienced enough." Do what you want and show the world what you have to offer. You never know what people will learn from you!
He should be supportive!!! I say ignore his rudeness and do YOU!!! Maybe his lack of encouragement towards your YouTube dreams are coming from his insecurities... Just a thought.
Definitely start making videos dear :) I think your boyfriend is just trying to protect you from all that hateration but don't worry. You might have some negative comments, but if you don't let them affect you too much, you'll be fine! Good luck!
I would just like some encouragemnet and someone to let me know i can do it! Thanks ladies for the help, how did you guys start making videos and not feel ackward talking to a camera?
I'm still struggling with that as well... It feels weird sitting in a room just talking to nobody! I'm just recording short vids to get use to talking to the camera. I haven't uploaded anything on YouTube yet but watching yourself is the best advice I can give!
do it girl! making videos is fun! i had over 100 but i deleted them cause of a tough time in my life but i just uploaded a new one so come support me and ill support you
I say go for it! My husband was and still is a little skeptical, and he wishes he could protect me from random trolls and haters, but it happens sometimes. The positives far outweigh the negatives in my opinion! I don't let him watch, and I won't film when he is near me because I am kinda self conscious of it, but he's getting better about being supportive. He's learning that I am able to handle the negativity just fine, and he is worrying less and less about me getting my feelings hurt.
It'll come in time! I subbed, and look forward to more videos! :) If you ever need support you can definitely find it here, most of us are going through the same things, and it's easy to fine someone who relates to how you feel.
Ladies! You guys are awsome! now I am really going to try hard and make and upload videos (when my bf isnt home). You are just the encouragment i need!
I use a Canon GL1 I think it is. It's a professional camera and that's just because my dad used to own a video business. I'd say focus more on lighting. Great lighting can make all the difference.
You should record videos...plus its fun. Don't worry about what your boyfriend thinks. To be honest with I don't think boys will ever understand the concept of recording videos that talk about beauty and fashion. I usually record videos when nobody is home and the camera I use is the cannon powershot a2200.
Who cares whether he's home or not? Seriously. It's a girl thing and some boys just don't get it. There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to make videos. People at work laugh at me for it and I just call them out. I love making videos and I'll keep doing them! Your boyfriend should support you no matter how stupid he thinks Youtube is. Do what you want!!!

Pretend your viewers are your best pals and they went through a shrinking machine and got put into the camera you're using. ;D
