Hey dolls, I have colored hair, and to be honest, it needs a lot of heat in order for it to not look like a bird's nest. I blow dry, flat iron, and sometimes curl my hair. I'm looking for a good heat protectant. I've tried the Sleek protectant and Tresseme and they left my hair feeling like straw. I would prefer something on the less expensive side due to a very tight budget, but I want all the advice you girls can give me. Thank you!
I would recommend La Coupe! It's great. It leaves your hair feeling smooth and really helps get every single piece totally straight. It's only about $6 at Rite Aid.
Honestly I've tried high end ones but i love my tresseme heat protectant but if you want a high end one i would say its a 10 because it protects and moisturizes! i love it!
Coconut oil has been suggested around here before as a heat protectant, as it can take a lot of heat, and you should (touch wood!) be able to find some for under $10.
I second the One n Only Argan Oil suggestion. It's a pretty good heat protectant. FYI serums with a cone (silicone, dimethicone, etc) at the very top of the ingredients list can be used as a heat protectant. That's the most important ingredient.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to try the got2b one (my boyfriend surprised me with it because he saw me post this and was a creeper, lol). And Fancie B, I never knew that about serums! Thank you so much for the information!
serums don't protect from the heat, don't substitute heat protection for a serum. redken, rusk, and tigi have great heat protection products. a little more pricey then the got2be, but it's worth it.

I use One N' Only Argan Oil when I put heat to my hair. It smells good and it keeps it moisturized.

I had the same problem but the tresemme heat protectant works just fine. I think you need to look for a hair mask and a really good conditioner.
