I've been reading a lot about people not washing their hair. At first, I said gross. Then I read about someone adding baking soda to their shampoo, so I started. I noticed my hair felt fantastic and dint need to be washed as often. Tonight I read where a woman said she just uses straight baking soda to wash her hair and maybe a little apple cider vinegar instead of conditioner. What do you think?

There is nothing wrong with not washing your hair EVERYDAY. I think the main reason why people think not washing hair everyday is disgusting is because they confuse it with that person not washing their body. There is a such thing as shower caps and ponytail holders to avoid getting the hair wet. My mom always tells me to use apple cider vineger in my hair because it makes it stronger and smoother. I have yet to try it, but vinegar has a funky scent. I couldn't imagine doing that without using some type of well scented conditioner. Have you done any research on this baking soda remedy, as in, does it end up damaging the hair in the long run? I want to try it, but even I am a bit skeptical.

I've never heard of it as a conditioner but def as a pre-rinse. That's how women of color (curly haired girls) take the gunk out of our hair. But def use a conditioner if you're going to shampoo. Shampoo has harsh sulfates in it and strips our hair. The conditioner gives the moisture back to our hair.

I wash my hair twice a week or so, under the theory that my scalp needs to be cleaned just like all the other skin on my body. I know some people with very thick hair who need to wash it more often because sweat gets trapped in there and starts to smell really really funky after a day or so.

I have a lot of fine baby strands. I only wash it twice a week. Today, I washed it with baking soda then rinsed it with apple cider vinegar. @Kendra- it doesn't hurt your hair that I can tell. Everyone raves about it. I wouldn't do it too often because of the stripping but I think 2 times a week in place of normal shampoo is a good idea. As for the vinegar smells, I mixed it 1:4 vinegar to water and steepest tea bag in it. It still smelled like vinegar but after I rinsed it, it smelled like nothing. Even did the blin sniff test with my bf who didn't know what he was smelling for. However, after I 'washed' my hair, it felt gross until it was dry. Now it's wonderful. This was using baking sofa and vinegar only! So shiny!!!

I used to wash my hair everyday, and condition it once a week. But, I have tried to limit the amount of times I wash my hair, so it doesnt get as greasy as fast. Seems to be working so far, although sometimes after one day its gross.. but when bored I play with my hair a lot!

I wash my hair every 3-4 days depending on how oily it is. My hair feels soo much better when I wait a few days between washing.

I wash my hair every other day. If I wash it everyday then my hair gets severly damaged. So there's nothing wrong with not washing your hair everyday. Professionals recommend that you don't wash your hair everyday.

I'm on day 2 of not washing my hair after using the No-poo method. Still looking good, and smelling good.

I wash it every other day or every two days. It just depends. I don't think I could go more than that without washing... I'd feel gross! I'm a waitress though so I always have my hair pulled back in a ponytail. I'm always like "Well I'm just gonna throw it up anywayyyyyy...." But seriously. No more than two days.
