I know artists who love rcma. I airbrush but also carry Cinema Secrets and Graftobian foundations in my kit. I use both for HD television and I am always happy with the results. Cinema Secrets is a little dryer and not as creamy but because of this it serves double duty as a full coverage concealer as well. Graftobian is creamier and leaves a beautiful finish but I find it needs more touch ups under hot lights. I'ts really a preference. Don't purchase all the palettes, select a few light, med and dark so you can mix them. This will save you money when purchasing. I carry 7 palettes which is a little more than I need. If you have any other questions I am happy to help you.
I always like seeing what's in other artist's kits. I wanted to share mine with you. This is my basic kit that goes everywhere. Shimmer, pigments, paints are in my storage bins in clear bags. I reach for those and add to the kit on creative shoots. It all fits in the Zuca.
Amanda,
Disposables, Brushes, sanitizer, primer, foundation, powder, makeup remover/wipes, blush, neutral shadows, some colored shadows, mascara, pencil eyeliner, lash curler. lip liner pencils, lip colors ranging from light- deep. This is as basic as it gets. You can add to it of course as you need to. Kits vary quite a bit depending on the type of work the artist does. Editorial, Special FX, etc. Try to go for quality in foundation, brushes and powder. Hope this helps. :)
Not a super clear picture, but I carry a lot of yaby palettes, Make Up Store eyeshadows, Make Up For Ever primers, Face Atelier foundations (repackaged into small dropper bottles for portability and custom mixing, e.l.f. squeeze tube glosses (great for custom mixing!) and mostly all Temptu Pro for Airbrushing. I downsize from original sizes as much as possible to cut down on the amount of space that gets I taken up in my kit.
Pamela,
I am uber organized with my kit because if I'm not I can't find things quickly and I hate digging. LOL I prefer Temptu Pro over Kett as well. I find Kett's foundations a bit confusing to mix and I come from a custom blend background. I use SB for my Brides as well. I actually got the dropper bottles I used for my foundations from US Plastics Corporation. Here is the link for them: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/it... I also get some of my containers from Qosmedix.com and The Container Store.
I bought the pro and additional pouches so that I can change them out depending on the shoot. I have had this for a long time and its very durable! I take it up stairs, ramps, pavement and it still looks new. Oh and its super quiet. :)
Thank you!!!! I'm still considering which one to get, maybe the cinema secrets since you have to touch up less. What powders do you use? I was wondering if I can get away with just using the MUFE HD translucent powder starting out.
THANK YOU PAMELA :D
what would you recommend for a person starting out to have in their kit, as in bare basics?
I'm just doing a few odd jobs with student photographers but I'm thinking for taking this up a notch :)
Nice to meet you Andii!
I love your kit!!! You have lots of cool liners and nail polishes and fun eye colors! Thanks so much for sharing it. I love looking at other artist's kits!!! I also love your photos. You do great special FX work! I want to learn how to make gashes, lacerations. I'ts so fun. I will upload some of my vampire photos right now on my portfolio. This is a photo of me dressed as Wednesday from the Adam's family. It was my Halloween costume from last year.
Hi Livvy!
I use Taklon synthetic ones from the hobby store for foundations and creams. I also purchase from MAC, Shu Uemura, Makeup Forever. I like to use high quality natural brushes for eyes and face. :)
Brandy,
Wow!!!!!! Its very organized. I have the same airbrush unit and I love it! I also want to try Yaby and Face Atelier products. I also love Temptu Pro for airbrushing. I prefer it over Kett. The aqua is my favorite to use on camera and the SB is what I use for my Brides. Where do you purchase your small containers?
Its good to always pack the same way right, that way we can always find it in the same place. I agree with you on the Kett, it is confusing with the shades. Temptu is straight forward and mixing is a snap. Yes, isnt the SB gorgeous, it looks like skin! Thank you so much for the links on containers. I will definitely order from them. I also order my tiny jars that are similar to the ones they give you for foundation samples on Ebay. I use them for custom lip colors or give them to the Brides on their Wedding day.

I see you use air brush, but can you recommend any foundation palettes? I'm just starting out and was looking at the rcma one.
