I've seen tons of make up gurus on youtube raving on about how great this foundation is! Finally I splurged and decided to try it out for myself. At $42 I expected this foundation to be amazing and long wearing! And yes it is really nice coverage and feels light on the skin, BUT it does not last on my skin at all! I tend to have dry skin so I always moisturize and apply a primer before wearing the foundation. I've tried wearing it so many different ways over different primers and moisturizers but it still after about 4 hours completely fades and kind of leaves dry patches on my skin.
Am I doing something wrong!?!?
Do you use this foundation?
If so, how do you wear it?
How does it last on you?
Since it is so expensive I would really love to find a solution so that I can use my Silk Creme foundation again!!!

Have you tried using a setting powder? I use the elf HD setting powder, and it works great! And this is coming from someone with oily skin. Also, you could try a setting spray. That eould help, too.

I use both a setting powder and skindanavia setting spray! That's why Im kinda surprised that it doesn't last on me. Since I have dry skin I usually never have a problem with foundations lasting on me so it's kind of weird.

That's so weird! What kind of setting powder are you using? How are you applying the foundation? Do you use a moisturizer in addition to your primer? I don't use this particular foundation but I'm usually good anyway for like 7-8 hours with my normal foundation application. 4 just seems too short!

I agree 4 hours is way too short!
Well I've tried the foundation several different ways.
I've tried using it over both my Neutrogena Oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin, and Clinic dramatically different moisturizing lotion.
I've also tried it with my Laura Mercier hydrating primer and my Smashbox photo finish primer.
I've tried to set it with my Maybelline dream matte powder and my Laura Mercier translucent powder.
I bought this foundation about 2 months ago and since then have tried a variation of all those products AND have set it with my Skindanvia setting spray.
I'm not sure why this foundation ends up looking patchy and fades and slides off of my face after only about 4 hours.
I usually have dry skin so I make sure to exfoliate every 3 days and I moisturize every day and night!
I hear so many people rave on about this foundation so I don't really understand why it doesn't work well on me.
There must be something I'm doing wrong!

Well, it is a cream foundation. Maybe your skin just hates those. I've heard rave things about the Maybelline dream matte powder and I own the Laura Mercier one... it really seems to me like your skin just hates this foundation!
Make sure to wait for your primer to set in before applying the foundation. If you don't it can get too slippery. I did some research and other people seem to be having this problem too. Do you shake the bottle before you use it? Apparently that was some of these people's miracle fix. The formula might easily separate and you might not be using the correct amounts of each ingredient!
Also make sure you're applying it right. Don't use too much or it's gonna melt off of you in this hot summer heat. I use an ELF Flat Top Powder brush when I apply my foundation and it works wonders. Less is more, and you can always build. Trust me!! I used to cake Mac foundation on my face because I was a stupid, stupid girl.

What moisturizer and primer are you using? I ask because it's also possible they're incompatible with your foundation. Silk Creme Foundation is silicone-based (first ingredient is Cyclopentasiloxane), so if you're not using a silicone-based* primer or moisturizer, it could lead to it slipping off your face. Using like with like yields better results.
(* A primer can have water listed as its first ingredient, but look at the second ingredient for its real base. If the second ingredient is something like Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, or similar, it's silicone-based.)

Oh yeah that is sooo true! Well I just assumed that if I use laura Mercier with Laura Mercier that it would just automatically be compatible but that's surely not the case a lot of the time.
I'll definitely look out for that silicone ingredient from now on!
So what gel moisturizers and primers are good for someone like me with dry skin?

I use Youngblood mineral primer. It is silicone based, and I love it!

i just wanna know how you're applying it? the Rep for the brand told me that Laura designed it to be applied with either your fingers or with a sponge. If it still doesnt last inspite of doing this, then try Smashbox photofinish primer; it's silicone-based and i find that it works well on my clients with Silk Creme on top of it.
goodluck!
