I have plans to do photoshoots with a few local photographers. I'll be doing my own makeup and modeling in most of them myself. My daily foundation has SPF in it, so it isn't photographing well. Any recommendations? Also, I'm pretty pale so that narrows down the selection. :( I was thinking Illamasqua but I haven't heard much about their foundations.
Skin Base is supposed to be very good (none of their foundations contain SPF), and Illamasqua is one of the most pale-friendly brands I can think of. You could also try NARS; neither Sheer Glow nor Sheer Matte have SPF, and they have some pale shades.
Another way you can go is professional/theatrical brands (Graftobian, Kryolan, Ben Nye). Their foundations come in tons of shades and are SPF-free.
Thank you all! I'll probably try NARS and Make Up For Ever before I try Illamasqua because my local Sephora only carries the nail varnishes. :/ I do want to try out Illamasqua at some point.
My first choice is always airbrush. I use MAC silicone based, or Temptu, but doing it on yourself is not the easiest. If I had to use a different kind, I would stick with traditional pan-sticks, or studio quality creme make ups (like MUD or Cinema Secrets packed with a ton of loose translucent powder.
I agree MUFE HD photographs amazingly! i also find that using any foundation and dusting the MUFE HD Powder over it gives it the HD technology. So you can still use whatever foundation you got going.
Oooh, the MUFE HD Powder sounds good; I only have so much extra money right now and that might be a really good option to use over my daily foundation.
Foundations with SPF don't photograph well. I suggest try using MUFE HD foundation, Cinema Secrets, Graftobian, or Eve Pearl. The MUFE HD Powder is good but it only takes very little and use with a sponge (beauty blender) or press into the skin with a pad.
Chiming in with the HD powder. I recently watched a video about this on GossMakeupArtist's channel on Youtube. He said NEVER to use this powder when photographing. If there's a flash, you'll look like you have flour all over your face. Seriously. Look at some of the pictures he shows!
I use Mac Face&Body a lot in photoshoots, it's really sheer but you can build it up applying more layers and use a concealer where you need more coverage, and you can use it on your body too because if your skin is showing and you only have your foundation on the face sometimes the texture of bare skin is different and it looks weird in pictures.
@Lacey This will happen when you use too much. In my response, I advised using very little and this is why. I have use MUFE HD and didn't have this problem. I attended the Make Up For Ever Pro Road show in Atlanta last year and learned the proper way to use this product.
I prefer using Cream formulas vs liquid because there's not much work you have to do. With liquid, you have build to the desired coverage. With cream, you thin it out if needed and you can get the coverage you need without adding concealer.

@Marian, I can't use MAC on myself because it's too dark, but I'll keep that in mind for other people.
I think I need to go to Sephora soon. :)
