Recently found my latest set of extensions going through some things at my parents house. Though tangled they were in otherwise great condition. However, they are jet black (picture attached; I've just finished washing/deep conditioning them hence their stringy look).
My question is: Knowing that they can be dyed (and never have been previously) would it be possible to make them a chocolate brown WITHOUT bleaching/lifting? (since it would be more damaging to them since they don't produce the oils needed to balance out bleach)
I'd like to avoid bleaching at all costs; but if that is the only option it will have to do and I will just have to give them a good deep condition again after they're bleached/dyed.
Does anyone know why they might not bleach? I went to Sally's tonight & got 2 packets of the Quick Blue bleach; one packet was applied to the extensions with a brush and after 25 minutes there has been ZERO change to the hair.
They are the 18" inch EuroNext set from Sally's. Jet Black. Should I put the other packet of bleach on them? Or am I screwed :(
i have the same exact extensions. they cant be died any lighter over the darker color. mine were died a really dark brown & i bleached mine with manic panic bleach, but i had to bleach them twice to get them blonde, & each time i left the bleach on them for about an hour and a half. & then i dyed them the color i wanted. this actually didnt really damage them at all. theyre still perfectly fine, and pretty soft. just be sure to do a deep condition each time you bleach & dye them. :)
You will have to bleach them to lightwn them no matter what. The good thing is that since theyve never been colore they will lighten faster and easier and you can out rhe color on. As long as you do it right it wont damage the extensions, ive been wearing extensions since i was 15 and i am 21 now, ive done all kinds of things with extensions and bleaching doesnt hurt them unless you do it numerous times.
For whatever reason I absolutely CANNOT get these to lighten!!! :(
I've used BOTH packets of Quick Blue (mixed with 20 vol. developer) and let it set for 1 hour to an hour & a half each time; and maybe 6 tiny little strands TOTAL (out of all 4 sets of clips) turned like a rusty red color.
I have a Prisms lightner (again mixed with the 20 vol. developer as per instructions) on the end of one clip set now just to see if maybe it was the Quick Blue.
Any ideas as to why these are just refusing to lighten? Is my developer too weak? (I used it on my own hair & my sister-in-laws hair and it lightened just fine though.)
Is it virgin hair? If it isn't, they sometimes use weird dyes (like fabric dye) to colour hair and things can turn out wonky when trying to bleach out hair wefts. There is also usually a smoothing coat on the hair as well, which can make it difficult to colour.
Also, I agree with Katelyn, dark hair usually needs 40 vol.
I re-bleached again with the Quick Blue and 40 vol. developer. I've left it on for 3-4 days now (as it was VERY slow to lighten) and there are more strands lightened than before, but still not enough (and still not light enough) for me to dye over it with the dark brown & it not come back out black.
What else could be wrong? They were the Euronext human hair extensions sold at Sally's, I can't remember if they were classified as "virgin" or not I know they were labeled as Remy if that helps.
But if, by chance, they were dyed with fabric dye how could I tell? How could I remove that (if it's even possible)?
I've added a picture of them (the crusty-ness is due to the dried on bleach), you can see that some places lightened more than others.
You can not dye them because it is not VIRGIN Remy hair. Buy VIrgin remy hair and then you can dye it and bleach it. The sally hair is not remy or virgin and a lot of human hair is mixed with fibers. NOT GOOD! for the same price at sally I sell VIRGIN Exotic Remy hair from all 7 countries. My web page is underconstruction but you can email me to order hair at bellaremy7@gmail.com. http://www.bellaremy.webs.com is the starter web for now.
I looks like yur hair isnt human hair its definitly mixed either fabrics sum even use horse hair if it wudda been human virgin or not it wud have lightened with bleach

Try using a stronger developer like 40 vol. and a different kind of bleach maybe.

Yeah you may want to try 30 or 40, but watch it carefully, so it doesn't get lighter than you want it to!
