Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of makeup or lotions for people with eczema. I have it on my face and it's hard to find makeup that doesn't irritate my skin, I use cover girl coverup right now and it works okay, I've always been scared to splurge on anything else incase it doesn't work.
Definitely open to any suggestions anyone has though for good smelling lotions, bronzers, cover up, blush, etc...

I feel for you! I get eczema. It's no fun. Bare Minerals is meant to be very good for people with sensitive skin. I haven't tried it myself, but I know it was developed for that reason. I think also CoverFX is meant to have properties that are good for sensitive skin.

Sometimes the scents and colors in things can be irritating for delicate skin. In general, it's good to steer clear of scented stuff.

I've found that my eczema has improved as I drink more water to stay hydrated. Coconut water is also helpful. Stuff like staying out of the sun, and using an unscented lotion with natural ingredients is also helpful. Read the ingredients on the packaging and if the list is long and unpronounceable, it's probably good to stay away from it. Going to the health-food store or Whole Foods will make it easier to find something good to use.

Also, Cover Girl is probably not made with skin sensitivity in mind. So your experiences with that shouldn't scare you away from trying some things that are more of an investment. Whatever is touching your skin is being absorbed (think of the nicotine patch-- people absorb enough nicotine through their skin to feel the same as smoking!) so it's good to invest in something made with skin sensitivity in mind. I even make sure my detergent and soaps are of a similar quality so I don't have any issues.

I have very sensitive skin and eczema and the best lotion I have found so far that doesn't break me out with acne or eczema is VMV Hypoallergenics Re-everthing lotion for face hands and body. It's a bit pricy but it is sent dye, and parabin free.

Best lotion I've ever used is Eucerin! Their products is amazing! Best foundation I've used is Chanel aqua.. It is expencive so the best thing you can do is to take good care of your skin and don't use foundation...
If you remember to use good face and body lotion you probably don't need foundation... It is just bad for your skin..

Do not use cover girl!!!!! It makes eczema much worse!!! I use Mary Kay. Make sure the foundation is a dewy wet like, matte enhances the appearance of dry spots. I must suggest you see a dermatologist that is the best option. It is easy for eczema to get infected with bacteria or fungus. The best thing is medicinal treatments and follow the doctors instructions to the letter!

Just wondering, have any of you tried using pure tea tree oil for you eczema? My little sister was born with severe eczema from head to toe and after trying a bunch of prescription topical creams that didn't work, we ended up putting tea tree oil on her and it went away. She's 17 now and has no issues with it. I believe she uses a tea tree oil moisturizer.

Also, if you want something that smells good, it will likely have fragrance and perhaps dyes in it and that will further irritate your skin.

Here's an article that might be helpful. Keep in mind that you aren't obligated to keep a makeup that you don't like if you purchase from a department store and you can go there armed with information on what you need for your skin type.  :)

I Have it too. I used to use aveeno but began irritating my skin and now I use citaphil for sensitive skin and hasn't irritated my skin and I have been using it for 5 months. This is my routine to applying makeup: wash face let air dry but stay moist then apply citaphil right away. As my moisturizer is still dewy I apply primer (I use smash box photo finish) then apply foundation with a beauty blender (urban decay light weight $38) I do it in the process because it a depends on a moisterize dewy skin if I wait till my moisterizer sets in then my skin will flare up and get patchy and dry and yes drink lots of water and stay hydrated. One last thing I do not apply powder I jst wait n let my makeup set on its own then apply fix plus. It's worth giving it a try hope this helps!

My husband has eczema and he relies on Aveeno for cleansing and for moisturizing he uses Neutrogena Sensitive Skin formula. He is a cosmetic and haircare chemist so his face has been a testing ground for all kinds of products. In the morning he only does a warm water rinse and keeps the cleanser use for PM. I will need to ask him about his special blend for a toner because he makes his own at home.

I'll ask him about the make-up portion....you definitely want to stay away from the drugstore foundations though. Dermological based cosmetics is vital.

You should maybe try Clinique. The brand is designed for people with sensitive skin. I get skin irritations a lot and this is a great brand. You can always request for samples at make up stores so you can try their products

Bare Minerals is my best friend! I also swear by Vanicream! They have heavy creams, lite lotions, shampoo, conditioner, and bars of soap. No harmful chemicals and scents and I've been so well off ever since! Go to Amazon!
