Hello girls!
As a few of you know from a previous post I made, I got an icky eye infection. Luckily, I found out today that it wasn't from my brushes, so I feel a little less icky than I did before! The only bad thing now is just to be safe and to suit my OCD personality, I am throwing out every brush.
You heard that right. Every. Brush.
Luckily, I don't own any MAC brushes or real expensive ones. The majority of my brushes come from ELF and other drugstore brands like CVS or Duane Reade.
My question to you all is: Which is the best brush brand?! What do you girls love? What is inexpensive? What is expensive but worth the splurge? I'm picking up an extra shift at work so I can rebuild the collection, and I want to do it right! I plan on buying more ELF brushes, but please suggest me some brands! Give me some websites! Help a girl out here. =]
Thanks in advance, girls!!

If you want to splurge, Louise Young! I finally got a couple of their brushes recently, and I love them. I'm also working out which ones I want next! :)
On a budget: EcoTools, e.l.f.'s Studio brushes, Sigma (mainly the Sigmax ones), Sonia Kashuk.

Ecotools, Sonia Kashiuk, Sephora brand, and believe it or not Rite Aid has an amazing brush line- different smudger brushes for shadow/liner on top and bottom lashline as well as a bunch of other fine detail brushes! <3

Definitely EcoTools you can get the majority of basic brushes for about 20 or 30 dollars. These brushes are available at Walgreens, CVS, Ulta, Target, and most all drugstores. They are great quality for a bargain.

I don't think there is an overall best brand, every brand has good and bad brushes. I am totally sorry about that eye infection. With eye make up you need to be super clean and watch out for any irritatting products. Don't through the brushed out yet! Give them a good wash with a brush cleaner or bicarbonate of soda. After if there is any that is worn, throw it. E.L.F. has some great brushes, likewise ecotools, revlon and sigma. Also checkout the material if they are animal or synthetic. Animal works great for powder and synthetic is good for liquids and creams. E.L.F's studio powder brush is excellent for blending liquids and cream foundations and it's cheap. Another if there brush is there small precise brush. It's great for both lips and eyes. It keeps the application and finish look. A kabuki is a good one for powder period, loose or pressed. Try ecotools and the bodyshop. Now my brush splurge is a blending brush. They are the multi-use brush in my kit. They work well for foundation of any medium, eye make of any medium, cheek colour and creating a stained lip look. I own a lot of them :-D I have tried the high end and cheap but Illmasqua is my favourite. It's around £20-£23.50 so around $30-37. But it's worth I've had my first brush for four years and I have never seen a hair fallout. It's still soft as the day I first bought it. However I've bought a couple more.
But just remember have a feel of the bristles make sure it feels good on your skin, if it's rough put it down.
For synthetic look for anything made from taklon, it retains it shape, does not absorb moisture and it easy to clean.

I will splurge on brushes that deal with blending eyeshadow & apply face make up (except bronzer & blush so just foundation, powder & concealer) everything else you can just get from drug stores. ELF is amazing quality for being inexpensive. Also EcoTools are cheap and very inexpensive. Goodluck (:

Real Techniques, Ecotools, Essence of Beauty and Sigma brushes are my fav affordable brush lines! If you're worried about eye infections, try sticking with synthetic bushes to cut back on bacterial contaminants and clean your brushes often! Good luck!
If you want to splurge... I have to agree w/ Shelly - Louise Young brushes are pretty much equal to my Hakuhodo brushes... Angel soft so they won't irritate your eyes if you have a hard hand during application. =]

I think everyone pretty much covered everything. I really love E.L.F.'s $1 concealer brush though. It's fantastic for applying gel eyeliners.

Still loving my super-affordable Real Techniques www.realtechniques.com I haven't tried Sigma yet but I think that will be my next brush purchase. I ordered my RT's at ulta.com and I know they are on sale there now b1g1 50% off.

EcoTools brushes are amazing. You'd do well to replace all your brushes with that brand.

i <3 elf brushes. I've also had a bunch of brushes by "Brandon" for years and they've worked great. I think they're a random drugstore brand, so i'm not sure about where they're available on a national level. I know i got mine here in WA at Bartell's pharmacy.
