I'm heading over to Sally's soon, and need a good nail file. The one I have now isn't coarse enough and splits my nails. I need a good coarse one, that will shape my nail easily! Like butter! And I also need a good topcoat! So what's the best nail file and topcoat? (both under $20)
I can't speak on the files since I use a glass one! I'm sure you can find one easily there, they have that huge rack of a million files of all kinds.
On the top coat topic though I've tried MANY many from all brands/prices and my favorite is the Revlon Extra Life No Chip (4 dollars)
Many people will recommend Seche Vite, and I DO like that one but the bottle gets thick very fast, and I only prefer it for using over nail art.
While you are at Sally's I'd strongly suggest the Nail Life Gripper base coat though that stuff is AWESOME!

I can't help you with the file part, but I SWEAR by Essie's Good to Go Quick Dry Topcoat. It's amazing and my nails are dry in 5 minutes.

I've never had good luck with Essie... I've disliked any product of theirs I've tried. I'm glad they work for you though!

I love the BeautySecrets nail file from Sally's. It is slightly curved and comes in different levels of coarseness.
