I am a natural true ash blonde and for the past year or soo I have been dying my hair black/brown. Well today I decided to use Revlon frost and glow to slowly progress my hair to a lighter shade! I am just curious how everyone elses results turned out? After my first time with it my hair lifted but lifted a brassy color. I am going to do it again tomorrow and try to get it more even and more blonde.

Seek a professional! Color does NOT lift color. Plus, your hair has been colored with a dark shade for a while so some damage may have taken place like overlapping color on your hair shaft. Do your self and your hair a favor and let a pro help. It will always pull to a brassy tone with an over the counter product.

I believe the product you used is a bleach, but you will definitely need a pro for this to work well. True, a step by step approach is best, but there are many factors to consider before you transition so many levels: hair integrity, previous color products used, realistic color goals in between desired end result...see your hair color pro, beauty!!!

I strongly agree with the other two. This is something you should never attempt to do yourself, IMO. Go to a salon, leave it to a professional.

hmmm I dont know about from black to blond but I had bottle black hair for a long time then I decided to go red and the first time I dyed it with loreal high color (30 developer) it just turned a bit lighter.. I then dyed my hair with the same loreal high color as before about 5 times in like a 2 and a half month span and my hair was completely vibrant bright red and everyone thought I had used bleach. This is coming from my experience. I know loreal high color has some blond dyes that maybe you can try =] hope this helps

I have been to beauty school as well. I have not finished only about 2 months or so left. I tried this just because I take care of my hair. Even from coloring it black, I did it properly, only doing the regrowth when needed and staying away from applying color to my ends multiple times. I also deep condition with Heat for 10 min and 5 min cool down. And I know that box color is not the best choice but I wanted to do this to do a review for my blog. I am taking all the pre-cautions and moisturizing my hair every chance I get.
My hair lifted to a light brassy color, but for being as dark as I was, it lifted really well. I have been using a purple shampoo every other day for 5 days and OMG My hair has changed dramatically. it is now a medium toned brown with blonde streaks throughout. I love it. My ends are not as damaged as I was assuming they would be. I think a trim will take care of my ends. But overall I think that the product of Revlon Frost and Glow is really decent! And I would recommend to give it a try.
IMO: Hair color companies are like makeup. There are your drugstore brands and hi end brands (or salons). The drugstore brands are trying to step up there game to the quality of higher ends, but also they have in mind that at home users were not trained. But honestly I really do like the Frost and Glow and I think it should be given a chance.

I have done this as well. My hair was dyed black fro two years so it was in my hair for good. Try to bleach wash it. This lightens the hair with out too much damage and then when you ready bleach it with your choice of bleach. My hair turned a deep glossy red but then became brassy with time.
